    Default Coriandre - Jean Couturier

I found vintage Coriandre edt & current (I think but could also be vintage) parfum extrait.

    The edt was very aldehydic/musky.

The extrait is definitely much not coriander seed-centric.

It immediately reminded me of Givenchy Vetyver.

That same mildly stinky underarm smell.

The extrait is an extrait but unlike traditional extraits , inthe sense that not overwhelming - it's actually more towards a cologne composition.

That's why I'm unsure if it's current or vintage.
If it is vintage, it'd be reeking of oak moss & geranium (the two usual culprits).

But then again, it could be an atypical extrait - owing to the fact it's prime note isn't traditional & could actually get drowned by the strength oak moss & geranium.

Anyhow, the fact that it wears like an extrait (the coriander seed is strong on my wrist) but isn't a traditional extrait by bottom-notes-standards is something appeals me.

Never knew this to be available in extrait. Would be a bit surprising to release such a form now, no?

I have a mid 90s version of Coriandre, Parfum de Toilette in the cylindrical metal can with the removable glass bottles inside. The top notes seem a bit attenuated but it smells great. It is soft and stays pretty close to the skin. The drydown on this version smells almost like the mid-section. It isn't a heavy base at all.

I also have a late '90s version of Eau de Coriandre, a more citrusy and slightly fruity variation which is delightful.

I'd bet that the extrait is older rather than recent. Based on what the intent was, I believe it was designed to be a lighter, more nimble fragrance than what a typical extrait was at the time.

Maybe. But some companies are still keeping true their roots . Like Bensimon's colognes.

I saw the PdT online. That could be the best concentration IMO.
The extrait is nice but there's almost projection.

I just noticed that they don't advertise the extract their website.

So it could very well be vintage extrait.

Oh yes, I have 2 little bottles of this. It is definitely a green chypre. It has a slightly sour note which just doesn't sit well with me, though. I keep it for 'historical reference' the last bottle I got was only $30. I never checked the notes but it must be the the Angelica that puts me off. It's a deal- breaker note for me in most cases.

The vintage is an excellent rich-green-rose-mossy woods chypre.

I confirm the vintage "Coriandre" in "Parfum" concentration.

Good description of this absolutely incredible scent. For me it's a classic chypre with a rose heart. The moss/coriander keeps it edgy, less of a "bosomy" floral, you know?

I wore it in the edt and the extrait. A friend of mine was addicted to the bath powder, of all things. I always sneaked whiffets of it when I visited her - I can see it now, that round, flat box in the signature green "malachite" plastic.
