Default Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum - 2014

Bleu de Chanel is a sophisticated and contemporary fragrance from Chanel that hit the market in 2010. Chanel introduces its enhanced version, Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum, in summer of 2014. The fragrance is dedicated to freedom—endless, deep and boundless.

The woody-aromatic composition created by Jacques Polge follows the original path but goes down into a sensual and oriental amber territory. Wood maintains the freshness of the original in this variant, enriched with depth and velvet amber woods.

The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.. The fragrance features labdanum, nutmeg, ginger, sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver, woody notes, mint, jasmine, lemon, grapefruit, incense, cedar, pink pepper and amber.

    MAIN ACCORDS
    woody
    balsamic
    fresh spicy
    amber
    citrus

But but but...this one is more "sensual" and "enriched with depth and velvet amber and woods"!

I'm not expecting anything good from this.

For example: Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme ought to be just stronger version of the standard AHS. It's totally different, to me it's a mix of AHS with Le Male.

Notes look unchanged, but when I read that "velvety ambery accord" is amplified, it makes me want to throw up. At least there's no tonka in this one...

Yawn, I don't really have any interest on this release, despite really enjoying the EdT. I just don't see a purpose for this type of concentration of a scent that I prefer using in Spring & Fall, in the first place.

As others have mentioned, oriental amber?!?! I would have much more prefered that they ramp up the incense/vetiver in the formula, as their are so few of these types of scents in the designer market. I also hope this isn't the last offering from papa Polge for Chanel.

The edp release is so important that it warrants an exclusive Middle East release? I do like the idea of going in the edp direction instead of the sport. I bet they change the name to bleu intense when it come to the American market though.

With the success that Armani has had with Acqua di Gio Essenza, an eau de parfum of Bleu, that other best seller in the US, was a matter of time. I have a friend who is a huge fan of the original, and I'll have to tell him about this.

Will sniff it once it comes to the US.

Other than Sycomore they haven't made a great masculine since Egoiste in 1990. Bleu de Chanel is another disinfectant made for the mall loitering masses. It used to be one of the two or three greats, but Chanel is not far from becoming a second rate perfume house. Most of the men's and women's classics have been poorly reformulated. The only thing saving them is the Les Exclusifs line, but most of those have been sanitized as well. Maybe the new in-house perfumer Olivier Polge can dream something up. Right now there's absolutely no comparison with Guerlain, nor Dior and Hermes.

FWIW I actually agree with the synthetic comment, but the same can be said of many scents. I'm sure some people choose to avoid BdC simply because it's a very popular mainstream scent. The bottom line is whether or not one finds it enjoyable. Personally, I like it and will be very interested in trying flankers, diff concentrations, etc.

Yeah, Shame on Chanel for making a fragrance which is popular with the common people, who clearly have no taste, unlike us superior Basenoters.

And if you listed the fragrances you love many members on here could pick that list apart. The days of Egoiste are long gone. As much as I love it it's not a modern smelling fragrance. I'm more of a 90's guy myself, but some of the younger members are cutting their teeth on these fragrances and as much as you don't like the trend it's here to stay. What bothers me the most is the amount of flankers and how close they are to the originals.
