    Default Serge Lutens - L'Incendiaire

I just saw on "Now Smell This" that there is a trailer for a new SL fragrance with this name, which apparently is French for pyromaniac, which sounds promising to me as a lover of smokey fragrances. Does anybody know anything about it yet?

Edit: Oops! Credited the wrong source. It's on "The Scented Salamander." Sorry!

I somehow missed that one. Thanks!

This l'incendaire launches in Harrods in October - priced £380 for 50ml

Can't wait to smell this next time I'm at Barney's. Hopefully they have it by then!

Regardless, for 50ML @ $600, it better blow my doors off.

They have had this at Barney's for the past two weeks. I only got to smell it on a strip, and yes it is by far the smokiest lutens ever. Blows serge noire out of the water, but in a smoother, fuller way. Is it good perfume though?

Recently smelled this also and thought it was very nice.

Anyone smell this? I will be in San Fran (and LA) in a couple of weeks, so I'll be near a Barney's and will most likely get the opportunity to smell this.

    I love Serge Noire.

Yeah, I just reviewed it. Serge Noire is more camphorous, but there are parallels. It doesn't smell that Serge-y to me, but it's worth a sniff. It's not, however, worth $600!

Serge Noire is one of my favorites, but he has to REALLY up the ante to make me want to pay $600 for an improved version of it.

    Awesome review deadidol.

Wondering...did you spray on the sample or dab it? Lutens sometimes wear differently, based on application.

I sprayed. Actually, the SA sprayed me. I had this all over one arm and the new Byredo on the other. (The new Byredo is terrible.)

As far as the $600 goes, you're paying the Barney's tax. There's nothing in this that warrants such a high price point, but the same could be said for the rash of other high-ticket scents that have been emerging this year.

    Hello!
Why this is already released in America but not in Europe?
    What's the news here?

Barney's exclusive. NYC and LA only, I believe.

+1 Quite thoroughly enjoyable Deadidol! Shame that the price point is out of my league... Here's to hoping that demand/sales call for a release in the export line in the future.

Wonder why SL decided to make this an exclusive to Barney's a NY department store?

Is this available to smell in Paris at the house-of-Lutens?

    I don't understate why!
Is this the non-European exclusive line?

Perfume companies do this all the time. Roja has exclusives made just for Bergdorf, Xerjoff has an exclusive for Osswald Zurich, Micallef has all the Bruckner exclusives. Look at Harrods who has exclusives of several houses made just for them and no one else.

I guess Barneys and Serge Lutens must have a great working relationship. Now that I think about it, I think Barney's had, for a short time, bell jars for sale...so I guess this was inevitable.

They still have the Bell Jars. They have a department just for Serge Lutens.

For a house that hasn't released anything truly bottle-worthy, for almost a decade, Serge is really taking the ****.

    Sample from where?
From Lutens or from another seller?
    Thanks

Smelled this in Barneys SF they had a bottle.

I didn't like it. I found it acrid, bitter and it didn't have the complexity/wear-ability that I expected it to.

I don't have a prob with the price tag, but if your going to put a $600 frag on the market, after you have been selling amazing perfumes at very affordable prices, you better make sure it can live up to the hype. I haven't tried it yet, but I can't believe sheldrake would put out a high price bottle that sucks. Sheldrake is probably my favorite perfumer and with a budget like that I would have guessed he was creating a new masterpiece! Anything less makes the whole thing seem like a big prank.

I sniffed ghis at Barneys SF. I had to ask for it and the associate went to the back room to get the "special bottle". I did not get to spray it on my skin, just a single spray from about a foot from a sample strip. My thoughts were a smoky scent, maybe with a touch of oud. The spray on the card was so small...I could not get a good impression. Smelled nice enough but I could not see the price point to be honest. It would be nice to actually sample and wear it but I did not even ask for a sample. I thanked them and bought other things. For the price I would rather buy a couple of 100mL of Amouage...or some other high priced scent, like a Roja Dove or maybe a Jar fragrance.
