    Great recommendation.

I have been enjoying CdG Blue Santal lately.

Never smelled any of the Malle fragrances, save Noir Epices and Musc Ravageur. In fact, this one I've somewhat avoided because folks here at BN kept repeating "toothpaste" - sounds like I need to give this one a chance. Thanks!

Sartorial? I'll have to revisit it - I remember it being more retro than I tend to tread normally.

You should also try Vetiver Extraordinaire from Malle.

If one thinks every orange based scent smells like lemonade than you find GPM smell like toothpaste. Mind thought, the mint is just in the opening. It's a great scent as the genre isn't my favorite but still I adore this scent and it will always be in my collection.

Also, Creed Pure White Cologne - so fresh it almost sparkles and cools, yet very distinguished and different.

Yep! I got it when it was still "Original Cologne" before the name change to Pure White Cologne. Love that my bottle says that instead actually.

So far, it seems like I need to look into:
    • Dior Vetiver
    • Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire
    • Malle Geranium Pour Monsieur
    • Penhaligons Sartorial
    • Divine L'Homme De Coeur

I see some others in there that I've never heard of, Penhaligon's Douro eau du Portugal for instance. Thanks a ton guys!

Have you tried G20 by Gendarme?
It is not simply a cranked up Gendarme EDT.
There is a good hit of lavender that may keep you interested.
It reminds me of the smell that wafts out of a dry cleaning business... very nice.

Try the fig scent in the armani prive line. I agree with acqua universalis. Also just fell in love with Balafre. So clean and distinguished.

    Patrick of Ireland.

I was gonna suggest having a look at the MFK Universalis thing as well - he seems to have a couple of 'clean' ones in the line-up.

Patrick of Ireland makes you smell "honest" - I have that on first hand 'complement' experience from a very discerning female nose

Perhaps not quite the usual suspect for 'clean' category but for 'clean and distinguished', this IMO is a fantastic option.

Has no one suggested MDCI - Invasion Barbare? About as good of a signature scent that you'll find.

I think that the original 1934 Dunhill for men is about as clean and distinguished as you could hope for. So old school that it is new school.

Okay, got some samples and a bottle of Penhaligon's Sartorial. Also found a place that sells Patrick of Ireland for relatively inexpensive and local.

Penhaligon's Sartorial - this reminds me of what Brut used to smell like on my father growing up some 35+ years ago. I mean, I've been reliving old thoughts and it's about as manly and "clean" as you can get. Love the fact that it doesn't really play too far from the skin, but it's an enjoyable scent.

Patrick of Ireland - wow... this is clean. I mean, I took a shower, scrubbed myself with a loofa under a waterfall type of clean. This... works.

    • Dior Vetiver
    • Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire
    • Malle Geranium Pour Monsieur

These are next. If I can find the Dior Vetiver, that is. Byredo's Sunday Cologne is also coming in - I think that's more of my style too.

Thank you again all that took the time to give me some great new directions. Sartorial is a keeper, but I think it's more for memory than a signature scent.

Try Luna Rossa by Prada or (if you can find it) Puro Lino by Puro Lino

I personally don't think those Malle scents are 'clean'...neither is the Byredo.

Isn't Patrick from Ireland awesome!? Good stuff.

Yeah, just wished it lasted like Infusion D'Homme which has nuclear longevity but also tends to amp up a bit too much in hot weather.

TF Oud Wood fits the bill for me as does Eternity, spice and wood, bleu, and Aventus.
