    Default Hello from a newbie

I've been lurking for a while reading all the superb advice that's available on here and thought it was about time I said hello.

I've finally got round to making a start on making my own cologne. Been toying with the idea for a couple of years after a minor panic when I was told that the fragrance I wear was being discontinued. This turned out not to be true but spending time testing other fragrances made me realise
    1. That there isn't much out there that I really liked and
    2. I'd like something unique

I've bought a few essential oils but I realise I will probably need many more and I'll need to take more notice of top, middle and base notes. I've made a few blends that I liked but I made the mistake of just mixing them with vodka. I've now got perfumers alcohol and I'm just about ready to start experimenting.

The scents I like are ginger, bergamot, limes, clove, juniper and sandalwood.

Anyway, just thought I'd say hello. I'm thinking of using this thread as a placeholder and detail all the disasters I experience along the way.

Well the 1st mixture I made smelled lovely in the bottle but like toilet cleaner on my skin to start with.

The second was much more like a wearable fragrance but I may have overdone the clove somewhat.
