Carbone de Balmain & Absynthe For Men by Cristian Lacroix both have black fig as notes. Both are very nice IMO and inexpensive.

Marc Jacobs Fig and Diptyque Philosykos (not sure if you consider this niche...I don't)

Marc Jacobs for him. Not as nice as phylosikos but will do the job. You could probably find it on ebay for a reasonable price

    +1 for Marc Jacobs Men

also, try Superdry Neon Purple, it's marketed for women but it's very figgy, reminds me of Pacifica's Mediterranean Fig.

What about good ol' Varvatos original? Tamarind, fig and leather...good stuff! Also one that can be found dirt cheap on ebay is Avon's Unscripted. Patrick Dempsey's scent from them...a very nice sweet/spicey frag. Starts with fig and pepper and has a vetiver/woody drydown.

edit-looks like Avon has another mens scent which is mostly just sweet fig from the reviews. It's called Aromadisiac for Him, never smelt this one so can't vouch for it though.

I did not get any fig from Carbone de Balmain, it's a waxy woody-spicy "pencil sharpener" kind of scent.

I'd add Him by Hanae Mori and Kokorico by J.P. Gaultier.
    My current top five:

Tiffany - Tiffany for Men (vtg)
Yves Saint Laurent - M7 (vtg)
    Fendi - Theorema
    Tom Ford - Tobacco Vanille
    Gucci - Gucci pour Homme

HiM by Hanae Mori also has a nice fig note in a supporting role, rather than as the dominant note.

Huge thanks to everyone for your help !!!
I have, (I hope) an interesting story that caused my rekindled and about-turn interest in fig...
When Dune, (women's) was released I was fascinated and captivated by it. A perfume that captured an early morning - (equally) evening atmosphere of sand dunes next to the ocean. As a sea-side romantacist I instantly fell in love.
Then came Dune pour Homme and I was a little shocked and disappointed. I found the fig note very dominant and to me the perfume beared no resemblance to the Dune I knew. So I somehow gave Dune pour Homme an instant dismissal. Until recently....
At the Sunday fleamarket I found a seller with miniature perfume flacons. I was very interested in a mini pure perfume of Panthere, but he wanted to sell his collection of perfumes as a whole, not individually. I agreed and bought 20+ minis. Amongst them was an almost empty mini of Dune pour Homme.
The cap was broken, so most of the perfume had evaporated. Literally to "get rid" of the flacon I applied the last few drops of DPH. Wow. What an experience. The thick oily residue that remained in the flacon had, (presumebly) transformed itself into an "extrait" form of DPH. The next 12 hours, (possibly with the help of a Provencal mistral) turned this into a magical 12 hours. Although I will never be able to find or create a Dune pour Homme extrait ever again, I will probably be contented with the usual edt, (if it has not been reformulated ?? !) This was for me the ultimate "fig experience" Possibly, for me a close second would be the Farragamo mens fragrance containing fig.
I will try your recommendations. Thanks again.

Designer - Womanity Les Parfums de Cuir by Thierry Mugler (I know David would be careless about the name) - sweet/salty fig, cavier, leather - just sexy.

Niche but with average designer pricing - Caligna by L'Artisan Parfumeur - enchanted.

+1 for the pricey designer Armani Prive - Figuer Eden. It is just f***kin gorgeous . Wish the dry-down is just as pretty as the top but enjoy while it lasts.

One of my favorite, realistic sweet smelling fig scents that actually remind me of a breeze flowing by fig trees in southern italy would be the great discontinued "Goodlife" by Davidoff

I second womanity for something really novel and interesting (I'd call it focaccia with figs -something we eat in italy). I tried the cuir flanker only once, and sadly I didn't get leather (which would have been a great idea). But I didn't smell carefully.

for something fresh, Jardin sur le nil has a sort of fig leaf note (apparently, unripe mango, but not that one can make much difference).

Gucci by Gucci Sport. I'm not a fan of a lot of the recent releases but this is a good fragrance and certainly the fig is prominent in this one.

Philosykos by Diptyque is the best fig around , sort of niche but not quite , you live in France though so it should be easy to access !

+1 Philosykos, but seek out the EDP. I've found the EDT to be extremely short lived in the longevity department.

And from Acqua di Parma (I consider AdP to be "quasi-niche"), you should try Fico di Amalfi which, along with Philosykos, is one of the best figs in the business, IMO.

    Balmain Carbone

Default Re: Designer Fragrances With Fig ?

    Jovoy's L’Arbre de la Connaissance

    Top notes: fresh, hesperidium, leaves
    Heart notes: fruity-fig
Base notes: sandalwood, patchouli, fig tree

The only fig that has longevity and silage. Philosykos (even in EdP) is almost as fleeting as CB's water based frags.

Perhaps also Globe by Rochas, since it ticks many boxes at once: masculine, discontinued (thus most quite likely available only as vintage), designer, quite classic by now (right down to the quite catchy, uniquely creative and classy bottle design).
