Default New (no vintage) Modern Masculine scents - Anything out there to talk about ?

Anything new out there you have tried that is truly MASCULINE and not so femme with regards to a lot of floral notes, etc....Im not really looking for scents that are unisex here....Looking more for something that smells great, leaning more toward the masculine side of things, and more modern perhaps from a house that is virtually unknown or not talked about much here on BN...

One thing I have noticed is a continuous love fest for the same fragrances over and over...Don't get me wrong, I love them and there's a REASON they are talked about so much on these forums however, I'm looking for obscure, modern stuff that not many people know about or maybe a hidden gem that perhaps isnt mentioned to avoid it being "overused"...

Let me know what you guys think....I do these threads every now and then because new scents come out often that perhaps nobody has heard about...

    Thanks again guys !

Some recent "masculine" scents that I really like, that fly under the radar for the most part:

    Puredistance - Black
    by Kilian - Musk Oud
    Parfums de Marly - Shagya
Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 - Black Gemstone
Acqua di Parma - Colonia Leather
Yves St. Laurent - Splendid Wood
    Jovoy - Private Label
    Seasonal favorites:

    1. Creed - Spice & Wood
    2. Creed - Aventus
    3. Ormonde Jayne - Black Gold
    4. by Kilian - Incense Oud
    5. Puredistance - Black
    6. House of Matriarch - Blackbird
    7. Armani Privé - Oud Royal
    8. by Kilian - Cruel Intentions
    9. Creed - Royal English Leather
    10. Brückner - Aoud 1

Oud 777 by Stephane Humbert...very masculine and medicinal but noteworthy it's a refine version with tweak here and there of PdE Ambre Russe IMO leaning heavily masculine in the barometer.

But another person's gem might be your fool's gold, right? There are plenty of scents with strong wood notes that most women would consider masculine if not hyper-masculine among recent offerings, so perhaps you could be more precise about what you're seeking.

I thought I WAS being precise....Not really looking for florals or unisex type fragrances. Really looking here for more masculine scents like woods, leather perhaps, tobacco, Cardamon but something I can actually wear hear in the heat...And I like I mentioned, I prefer unknown houses are newer more modern masculine scents that could easily be worn as a daily scent....

    Hope that helps....

Well then, let's take a look at Cereus #4 !

And Yardley's Citrus and Wood should work as well.

Just go buy you a good sized 4.2 oz bottle of Gianfranco Ferre for Man for about $25 on Fragrancenet and get a fantastic masculine cologne that rivals Patou Pour Homme.

No, I'm not kidding. Just take a look at the reviews of it here and on Fragrantica.

My most recent purchase, Santa Maria Novella Nostalgia, screams of masculinity IMO. It's a rich leather mixed with petrol, tire rubber, and engine grease that settles down into a birchy, musky, ambery, vanilla base. It's mildly weird and absolutely captivating.

So far so good -- I've been getting about 8 hours on my skin and 10+ hours on clothes. I suspect it really shine in the cooler months, as the opening can be a bit overpowering in the heat of summer.

I would agree with these, but you can't buy Cuir 28 on line or where you live. And I have not smelled Journey yet. Consider Fate man. Black Tourmaline is a favorite.

While the top can be a bit harsh/overpowering for some (I happen to love it in the way I love the petrol opening of Fahrenheit and the rubber tire opening of Bulgari Black), the rest of the fragrance wears rather dry on my skin. I've actually been surprised how well it works in the summer weather but with that said, I'm wearing it in the drought stricken desert that is Southern California. I'm not sure how it'll handle the humid heat of Florida but hey, that's what samples are for, right?

true...I really do enjoy the "unheard" of houses here on BN especially since you do keep seeing the same ones over and over mentioned...Not that THAT's bad but it's nice to hear about the "unheard" of fragrances....

Heeley Cardinal? Light wood is kind of tough to define. Is Tam Dao too heavy? Have you tried Serge Lutens Bois Oriental? I can't remember. I thought I saw you had Bel Ami (Hermes) but not anymore, so you might not like that one. There's always Chanel- Bois des Iles.

I would add House of Matriarch SexMagic and Alpha.

Another Jovoy, but I prefer Les Jeux Sont Fait. Tom Ford Oud Wood is another good one as well.

    +1 for these.

It's definitely worth a sample, especially if you enjoy Fahrenheit, Bulgari Black, and leathers in general.

    Blackbird and Montecristo are fantastic.

    I would recommend

    Amouage Fate Man
    Absolue Pour le Soir
    Amouage Opus VII
