Good afternoon all !. Back in the fold after a couple of busy days. Fulfilled an ambition yesterday at a local beauty spot by going up in a glider for the first time. Exhilarating but somewhat scary too - rather disconcerting being in an aircraft and hearing no engine noise, but the views were spectacular and the seat of my jeans was still blue on landing. Returned home to find the package I had been waiting for - another follow up from my get-together with Xscent and today's SotD ....

Honeyed florals (nothing pissy here ) with a rich drydown and the tiniest dose of manageable skank - I'm sure any lovers of classic Caron or Guerlain perfumes would absolutely adore this.

Just returned home today celebrating a completely unexpected score at a favourite local coffee spot. The café is attached to a converted barn that deals in leather goods and home furnishings and they also have a small selection of fragrance from Atelier and Trumper. Until recently they also stocked Creed and only had one (almost full) 75ml tester of Himalaya left, which SOMEBODY walked away with completely free of charge . Being a regular customer obviously pays dividends sometimes !.

Congratulations Jon! That's fantastic! (Meant for the still-blue jeans, too. ) Enjoy.

Guerlain L'Instant Magic for me today. Wish you all a lovely Sunday.

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

What a nice way to say "thank you" to a good customer! Very nice, indeed, Jon. I've always been fascinated by gliders, but the winds around here can be very tricky. I'm not sure if that one's on my "must-do" list or not.

I'm trying a second wearing of Fracas as Miss Thang and I did not get on well the first time. I think I've figured out why. It's not listed in the notes, but I swear I smell gardenia in the opening ... or maybe it's oak moss combining with one of the florals to create a gardenia-like effect. Either way, my reason for disliking Fracas became apparent *the second* I put it on, after last week's Une Voix Noire debacle. Unless it's buried in fruit (as in 1804), gardenia seems to be the one big white floral I cannot wear.

Good morning. Me, NPR, and the New York Times. And coffee. I'm having a Sampling Sunday, with several Madini oils on each wrist and fore arm. Also oil knock-offs of Vol de Nuit and Calandre. No top notes, as these are all oils, but quite pleasant. The Madini Chipre strikes a chord for me.

Also, awaiting the arrival of an oil painting I fell in love with Friday, bought Saturday (three had been sold, glad I came back early!) at the wonderful Cain Park Arts Festival in Cleveland Heights. The artist is Patrick Deangelis, and I am impressed. Great price, too for a painting that won't fit in my car. Hopefully he'll be able to up his price point, and I'm glad to have gotten this for if not a song, an aria with all the repeats (; His work incorporates hunks of rusted material, quite apropos here in Rustbelitistan, and something I've experimented with. rynegne, it wasn't all by chance that American Rust caught my eye. I must make that my SOTA!

    Good Sunday to all.

Jon; that sounds like a pretty fantastic weekend all round, well done to you sir & congrats on your score!

ExtremeK; big congrats on your milestone, & here's to many thousands more!

sfmedusa; have a wonderful time at the seaside!

We had a lovely Sunday roast at the pub, followed by sitting outside in the sun with several beers & a live band. Now relaxing at home in Black Orchid, inspired by Robin's post.

Here's the artist and the art. Several friends independently thought his work was the best of the show. He won a juror's award, and sold all the paintings; I'm so glad I didn't miss out! Someone to watch. Delightful person, too.

    The painting and its creator:
    P1040169.jpg

A detail from the painting; he adds drawings in graphite over the oils. This photo doesn't do justice to the quality of his draftsmanship.
    P1040172.jpg

I also bought a drawing. This hand evoked how I feel about using my hands to make music.
