Thread: Honey note

    Question Honey note

Is honey absolute any good for adding a honey note to a fragrance, or is it a job better left to synthetics?

Yes, Honey abs does help in miniscule doses.

    Also Beeswax Abs.

But also Miel bases work well as well.

creatingperfume is getting the IFF Miel soon. It's insanely powerful stuff, but it's a good sweetener.

Try Oshadi's honey absolute, as that was the standard for me a few years back, and I never had difficulty with the material as others have reported. I can't imagine a honey accord without at least a small amount of it. It's very floral, similar to champaca. so you can use a touch of champaca in that kind of accord as well.

Eden Botanicals' Beeswax Absolute smells like honey and pollen. Really nice, powerful stuff. A little goes a very long way. I diluted mine to 10% and a few drops could still easily make a single-note honey perfume. Mixing with florals brings out the pollen aspects. Mixing with woody notes makes it a more traditional, almost gourmand honey.

If you want Pollen, then Pollenal is the ticket.

I think PSH and Hermitage may have some soon.

Youíll need to rely on them: I looked at Meil Blanc for Hermitage but with a minimum order of 10Kg+ and such a powerful material I saw no prospect of it selling sadly.

Not to be confused with Mel Blanc, the voice of Bugs Bunny...

Here, for everyone's information, is a list of common aromachemicals used to make a honey accord, with a description of their use and notes:

Most of those are easy to find, I think.

The above is a very useful website, and I refer to it often.

I know, I know, nit picking, sorry,

I'm still confused sometimes between Cassie and Cassia, and Hydroxycitronellol and Hydroxycitronellal - I have to work at remembering the spelling changes for each material... :-)

Is Miel IFF a good enough substitute for Miel Blanc?
