Thread: Communicating dark colors
Purple..... totally different to blues.
Pale mauve is lavender. Dark purple would be sumptuous, rich, classy, regal. Not at all sad. More rich tones and supremely comfortable.
Regal.. I forgot this connotation with purple. Very cool. Btw, I got the Lavandulal from PSH..
It's very purple - like a cross between Ionones and Lavender..
David - what do you think? Of course I wanna hear!
Frankincense might say purple if it was mixed with some darker florals. It could suggest churchy robes purple.
I don't have this association.. Never saw or smelled people in purple robes, and they don't light incense in Temples
I was thinking Papal robes and Catholic in my colour mind.
Nizan you should try it yourself. Perfumery is creative, creativity involves the imagination. Imagine a Purple environment, what would you smell there/
Purple is a secondary colour made up of Red and Blue. It can tend towards either. We have "done " Blue ( well there is more but we already have enough) so we can concentrate on Blue/Red. Many fragrances are like this. Tocade, Poison, Pomegranate Noir. Rich dark fragrances, with Patchouli and Labdanum, or Myrrh and Olibanum with lots of heavy dark fruit notes. Damascones and Rose Oxide. Plums. Blackberrys. Heavy textures,. Ylang, Lilies. Oriental smells. Sandalwood with Oud, Rose and Saffron. Violet and Chocolate. Violetta with Angel.
Over to you.
Maybe this is an easier task for those of us who have been through the 60's and 70's...... hum de dum..... (whistles innocently)
.... casting no nasturtiums

What did I miss in the 70's?
Violets and plummy Damascones.. With some velvety Timbersilk maybe? And then something to give weight.. Maybe Oud?
Hmm.. Just hearing the cease fire if over, and that the terrorists kidnapped a soldier. Will be back.
Biba! That's the smell of Purple.
It certainly is. I remember those shiny dark smoky eye shadows and über lashes.
I'll stop now. Look up Biba 1970 in images…. lol the memories of those maxi skirts…… and frills….. aaagh yes!

But they're all brown brown and brown
Well, maybe I didn't miss much.
Also, quite foolish - I have Hugo Dark Blue. I should probably study what they did there..
I lump Purple and Joop together, and hate them both...

Would Lavender be purple?
Oops...I see that David did cover that one far earlier in this thread.
I was looking through the Purple Haze trying to see the Clear Light at the end of the tunnel, but I think all the incense smoke got in the way of my view.

Paul - is it related to your Vanilla issue?
