Thread: Bold Perfumes

    Default Bold Perfumes

Apparently perfumes used to be really strong and in the 90s everything became more workplace friendly. I want something different. Maybe something weird. Nothing musky. Give me some obscure smells that only a perfume expert would know! Going for guy smells here, if that makes a difference.

Not weird but IMO a bold one - Gengis Khan by Marc de la Morandiere (will most likely have to settle for the current formulation which is still good)

    Welcome!

Many of the ones I immediately thought about are indeed musky. For non musky, off the top of my head:
CDG2 man (incense, candles, quite avantgarde)
$$$ Malle Portrait of a Lady (the $$$ is not part of the name, it's an indication of the price). I think it's hard to beat this one in terms of sheer power.

(The evil Sec Mag is indeed workplace most unfriendly, strong, and weird. A cult among perfume expert. For smelling, that is, not for wearing.)

There are bold designers from the 80's, Zino for instance, Kouros also. As per niche part, well, other members might prove to be quite a help

All of these are amazing compositions and will fit the "strong" bill nicely. Portrait of a Lady mentioned earlier while more recent is one of the most potent compositions on the face of the planet... It also is my favorite.
    Current Top Favorites:
    1) Portrait of a Lady original formula (EdP Frédéric Malle)
    2) Giorgio for Men vintage/V.I.P. for Men (Giorgio Beverly Hills)
    3) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
    4)
Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz) - tie
    4) Lalfeorosa (O'driù) - tie

    6)
Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio)
    7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
    8) Tzora (Anat Fritz)
    9) Javanese Patchouli (Zegna) - tie
    9) Monsieur de Givenchy vintage (Givenchy) - tie
    9) Coeur de Vetiver Sacré (L'Artisan) - tie
    9) X for Men (Clive Christian) - tie
    9) Patou pour Homme Privé (Jean Patou) - tie
    9) Oud Shamash (The Different Company) - tie
