    Default Creamy Sandalwood Fragrance ?

I have a shaving soap that smells amazing, it smells like sandalwood but a bit more milky.. would love to have a cologne that smells so cozy and refreshing at the same time..

What are some great sandalwood based fragrances?

Tam Dao EDP, not the EDT...the EDT is good, but the EDP is great and it's creamy sandalwood all the way!

Chanel's Bois des Iles and Egoiste both come to mind.

If you're looking for a sandalwood fragrance and not the real deal, I would recommend Santal Carmin by Atelier Cologne. Tam Dao is more about cedar than sandalwood, IMHO.

Tam Dao EdP is probably my favorite, definitely a coconut milk undertone. I couldn't find exactly what I wanted from a sandalwood fragrance and ended up making my own. You can always do that too if you're a creative type looking to do something different :-)

I don't think of Tam Dao as "creamy sandalwood." I wonder what the OP is seeking. To me, something like Bois Precieux would work, but that is a bit vanillic as well.

All good ones mentioned so far. I'll add a few from Serge Lutens:

Santal de Mysore - stripped down sandalwood
    Santal Blanc - floral sandalwood
Santal Majuscule - rose and chocolate sandalwood
Jeux de Peau - uber sweet & gourmand sandalwood

Hunt down the discontinued Santal by L'Artisan Parfumeur. IMO, creamier than the well-recommended Bois des Iles.

I also think Tam Dao is more about cedar than anything else.

I would recomend Santal de Mysore by Serge Lutens.

I wouldn't say that Egoiste is creamy for that matter, however I kindly recommend it. Obsession for men, mayhaps more spicy than wood oriented, is also quite good one.

I was about to jump in because sandalwood is a favorite note of mine and I have a number of bottles of stuff but I'm afraid this excludes anything from me - if you are looking for more budget stuff that's cool but usually a good idea to mention right up front

Another idea for a less expensive one is Barbara Bui EdP, if you can handle a scent marketed to women.

Egoiste is VERY sweet, please sample it first. Not a good candidate for a blind buy. I don't go anywhere NEAR my bottle until it cools down here.

It's good, but I wouldn't consider it the most versatile. I'm with Mike on that one...definitely sweet and a projection monster. Mostly wear this one in the cooler temps as it's a blanketing fragrance at least to me.

I think it's quite creamy and right on the unisex border... but then again I wear some florals.

Like JiveHippo said, decants allow you to purchase smaller amounts at smaller prices.

Art of Shaving Sandalwood is a really nice one. It's about 100 bucks or so. But if your looking for a real bargain and I assure you this has a nice sandalwood smell for about 20 buck, try American Crew Classic. You will be able to find it at a lot of chain hairstyling places. Good luck.

Frederic Malle Dries Van Noten is a wonderful creamy sandalwood fragrance. I think someone is holding a split on it right now.

I like both of these but I do not think that they are creamy

Just to be clear, I wouldn't recommend Samsara for two reasons, the first being what I think of as a big difference in formulations. The second, more important one (in this context) is that I would need to know more about what the OP was seeking, because I view the Barbara Bui scent as unisex whereas I think Samsara (vintage) has a strong floral quality and a considerably weaker sandalwood component, and so may be too "feminine" for the OP. And I'd guess that the prices on vintage Samsara are also around $80 (if not more) for 75 ml or more, whereas I noticed the BB scent at $27 or so for 50 ml.

I had gotten a sample and then just bought a bottle (available only at sephora). NEST WHITE SANDLEWOOD. Sure it has flowers on the bottle but get over It for it is pure unisex Sandalwood and every single time I wear it, I get complements.

To my nose MPG's Santal Noble tops the heap and could possibly be scored for around $80. Smooth.
