All of the above, plus: grey market sellers, trades, group splits, and online decanters.

Do not purchase from primarily from one specific type of seller, so basically I purchase from all of the above.

    Samples and decants only.
Just because a fragrance is expensive, doesn’t necessarily make it smell better than a cheaper one.

Whippin' out my great big spreadsheet I see the following purchasing for > 400 items:
10% were either direct or full retail, online or brick & mortar (NM, Macy's, Lucky Scent, Aedes, MinNY, Chanel, Dior)
30% were from BN members (bottles, splits)
30% were from eBay, mostly individuals, mostly used, htf, vintage
30% were from online discounters (Beauty Encounter, Parfum1, Frangrance Shop, Fragrance Express, Scented Monkey, Perfume.com)

In the beginning it was weighted more heavily from online discounters then I moved more to BN members / eBay individuals. Visits to brick & mortar high-end stores, online full retai, and/or Direct now being the primary source.

It depends... But I will say I cannot stand buying fragrances if a tax is involved. Americans already pay enough taxes.

95% eBay or other used/vtg platforms including Basenotes market
5% online perfume shops, mostly Italian perfumeries which still stock vintage or discontinued scents

I buy most of my perfume in retail stores (so far: Nordstrom, Aedes des Venustas and Galeries Lafayette Berlin). I have used ebay twice, for a discontinued fragrance and to get an earlier formulation.

All of the above ( plus many splits & a couple trade/swaps) but primarily online. Btw, I love "First in Fragrance", a top notch online store.

I assumed you were asking, "Where do you USUALLY buy your fragrances?"

I think most of us buy from everywhere/anywhere now and then.

All of the above, but it depends on the scent.

    • For designer fragrances, I typically buy from discounters - either reputable online stores (FragranceNet, BeautyEncounter, or FragranceX are my faves) or bricks-and-mortar (Perfumania, TJ Maxx, Marshalls).
    • For niche fragrances, I typically buy from high-end department stores (Nordstrom, Saks), though my bottle of L'Humaniste came from LuckyScent, so I buy from online stores specializing in niche as well.
    • I won't buy fragrances from eBay. Period. Too much risk.

And we can't forget about getting fragrances as gifts - which has happened to me many times. People know that I love to smell good.

I have social anxiety issues, so I don't like seeing people and conversing, but I prefer buying perfume at the store for a few reasons. I like being able to try what I'm buying right before I buy it and I like being able to walk out with it, instead of checking a tracking number obsessively. Also, when I bought Muscs Koublai Khan, the lady at the counter gave me free macarons and sparkling wine.
