Default Lincoln scenting their dealerships - with the help of the perfumer for Bond No. 9 Hamptons

As part of Ford Motor Company's continued plans to make people think that Lincolns aren't gussied-up Fords anymore, the brand now has a smell: Essence of Lincoln, created by the same perfumer who did Passion for Men, Sheer Obsession and (most recently) Bond No. 9's Hamptons.

Some Lincoln dealers pump it through the air, but not all - though you can get smelling strips of Essence of Lincoln at any Lincoln dealer. Notes include green tea, jasmine, and tonka bean. Sadly, it's not available in eau de toilette yet - but if it's popular enough in the air and on smelling strips, I could see it. Remember, Bvlgari The Vert was originally conceived in a similar fashion (to scent Bvlgari stores and their employees) - and it launched a whole fragrance empire. And remember: if Lincoln's luxury-car rivals have fragrances, why can't the dealers sell bottles of it?

They better hope customers like the scent. Could affect sales when going in the showroom to shop.

If it it is received favorably by customers good be a way to boost sales.

At first, while reading only the title, almost misread by thinking that Lincoln might be the first brand to scent the air conditioning of their cars with fragrance.

Anyway, the concept- as it is- may add something new to the market, it has to be determined whether it lasts and becomes accepted on a larger scale.
