Default Your Top 5 Incense-Based Fragrances

I currently only have two: Avignon and Sahara Noir. However I am considering CDG's 2 Man. Please list your top five incense based fragrances and, if you've tried it, your opinion of CDG's 2 Man.

I just received my bottle of 2 Man two days ago, and it is quite fantastic! The only thing I didn't expect from it was the dose of aldehydes at the top, but I enjoyed them with the incense, vetiver, and leather. I also own Sahara Noir, and agree that is another wonderful incense. Actually, I just bought 2 Man, Sahara Noir, and Ambre Nuit this month...pretty nice haul!

My personal favorite incense is Cardinal by Heeley, but since you already have Avignon, I'd stick with that.

I was considering this last week to try and fill a hole in my collection for a more wearable incense.

CDG Kyoto is a very different more ethereal incense that i have, but i'd also recommend trying Serge Lutens Filles D'aiguilles.

Sadly, i pinned down the two i really want as Clive Christian V and Armani Bois D'encens. Neither of which i can justify the high price. I might just keep trying my sample of Kilian Incense Oud, which is fantastic, but more subtle and so far i haven't had great longetivity in the incense notes.

Only smelled 2 Man and it smelled too much like an old church...

Not necessarily "top 5 worthy", thus a bit off-topic, far more an honorable mention:

among very affordable incense fragrances, Zara Incense turned out unexpectedly well.

While still not mentioning enough scents for a top 5 ranking, the few times I tested CDG Man 2, did like the incense note and the way it blended in with the other notes.

CDG2 Man and Armani Bois D'Encens are my two favourites.

I love incense fragrances, just don't feel a lot of them are very wearable, but I feel happy wearing these, and of the two the CDG is much more accessible, incense without a huge churchy feeling IMHO.

    Norma Kamali Incense
    Avignon (tie)

    1- Robert Piguet Casbah

2- Full Incense (Overlooked this one for years, then finally tried it recently and i think it's beautiful)
    3- Norma Kamali Incense
4- Sahara Noir (Probably the thickest and richest of this list, but i simply can't find an occasion to wear it)
    5- Incense Pure

Incense Oud (one of my top 3 of any type)
LDDM (also a top 3 for me)
    Sahara Noir
SL Serge Noir (once you get past the clove opening there is a lot of incense)
Incense Rose (though it is the lightest incense smell of these 5)

CDG 2 Man is very nice and the only fragrance I wore for about 10 years. Others I enjoy:

    Avignon
    Blackbird
    Black Gemstone
Bois d'Encens (every once in a while you'll see a 50ml refill bottle pop up for a decent price)
    Jubilation XXV
    Tribute Attar

Also, Fille de Aiguilles and Norne are very nice, but quite piney. Arso and Black Tourmaline are more smoky but still have a bit of incense.

Finally, I don't get the incense in LDDM, but a few people do -- anyway a great fragrance.

My favorites in no particular order:

Vintage Antaeus, Vintage Bel Ami, Puredistance M, Vetiver Extraordinaire, Tauer L'Air du Desert Marocain, MDCI Invasion Barbare, Morabito Or Black, Geranium Pour Monsieur, Avignon

Appropriately, though I must have sampled dozens of incense fragrances by now, I'd still list my top two as the ones listed in the OP's first post Sahara Noir and Avignon. A lot of the other incense fragrances I enjoy considerably less, or are incense "and" fragrances where incense is an accompanying feature rather than a star player.

If you want to try some real incense, Shoyeido incense available at Lucky Scent is superb. Shoyeido has been around since 1705.

As far as "pure" incense scents go, I'd have to say Bois d'Encens by Armani Prive and CDG Avignon. Scents where incense is part of the main theme, Jubilation XXV, Bois d'Ascese, L'air du desert Marocain, Epic Man, Memoir Man, 2 MAN, Ambre Mediterranea, Black Tourmaline.

Jovoy La Liturgie des Heures, a darker version of Heeley Cardinal.
    +1 L'Artisan Passage d'Enfer
+1 Norma Kamali Incense, this will knock you off your chair. I have 50ml and I can't even get through first 5ml. Half spray of it could fill my room. Lasts forever. I ofter spray it in my bed room just to calm my mind. Very soothing.

In addition to CDG 2 Man, I'd list:
    Avignon
    Dzongkha
    La Liturgie des Heures
    Messe de Minuit

Avignon and Liturgie are in the same vein as each other (straight-up ecclesiastical incense, like Cardinal too), so you might be content to stick with Avignon. Messe de Minuit I love for its dank, dusty aroma of old books in a vaulted undercroft. I'd love to get my hands on a sample of Norma Kamali's fabled juice, but it's as rare as hen's teeth, alas. CDG 2 Man I remember as being very woody, cedar-heavy, and somewhat artificial (no surprise for this house).
