Default Do you prefer the work of Alberto Morillas or Olivier Creed?

Morillas certainly has a larger catalog, but I think that with CK One and Aqua di Gio or Green Irish Tweed and Imperial, there are some similarities in their creation of fresh and extremely popular perfumes. Creed is probably the most mainstream of niche, if that makes sense.

I think the argument that might come up in this thread would be if Olivier Creed actually did the work he stated he did. GIT, for instance is oft credited to Pierre Bourdon. Things like that seem to make Alberto Morillas more of a preference.

    But that's my take.

Morillas is the King of Fresh, and is probably the most prolifically consistent of the master perfumers. Despite the moniker that I have attributed to him for his more successful creations, he has worked all of the different styles & various houses as a free agent nose.

In fact, I'm surprised he hasn't been given a position for one of the majors. I would have seen him slip right in at the helm of Hermès, following JCE. I would have envisioned him to have been able to work off the legacy Ellena is leaving behind & the history of the brand, stay avant-garde as usual, while creating pop hits for a house that honestly hasn't had one in quite a while.

They both have admirable creations, but prefer Oliver Creed.

    Alberto Morillas is the winner.
Thinking about Rochas "Byzance" that he created in collaboration with Nicolas Mamounas. A wonderful ladies perfume.

I'd almost bet most folks will say Acqua di Gio; although I prefer his re-take Acqua di Gio Essenza. But I'm interested in what others would say.

    Acqua Essenziale

    Ocean Wet Wood (underrated)

Versace Pour Homme (my favorite from him)

    AdG

I'd also like to get my hands on Gai Mattiolo Uomo and Lanvin L'Homme, and Vanille 44.

I think he does what he does very well. But when placed against the Creed lineup, Olivier Creed (if he is the sole perfumer) clearly has a better (and more diverse) output.

    Morillas.

Gio, M7, Pi, ck one, Opus VII, colonia intensa, his lab on fire and I haven't even tried his kilian"s. These are a fraction of what he's created. I like Creed also, but much more of Morillas.

No preference as they both have hits and misses. I'm not even sure if Olivier Creed is a bona fide perfumer. There is no need to pick one over the other but that's just my take.

Olivier Creed. For me, its not quantity, but quality. Both have hit and misses as mentioned, but I have and wear more of Olivier's work.

I own or like the following by Alberto Morilla:

    Acqua di Gio Essenza
    Bvlgari Man
    CK One
DKNY Men 2009 (bought it to give as a gift)
    M7
    Mugler Cologne
    Omega Aqua Terra
Tommy for Men (might buy again)
    Versace Pour Homme

Then own and like the following by Olivier Creed:

    Green Irish Tweed
    Himalaya
    Millésime Impérial
    Neroli Sauvage

Creed hands down. I also like Morilla but there's way too many collaborations for me to put him over Olivier Creed. Morillas did a couple Amouages that I love but he did it with Pierre Negrin who's very talented in his own right. Two others that I liked M7 and Givenchy pour Homme, both collaborations
    Seasonal rotation:

    1861 Naxos by Xerjoff
Fetish Pour Homme by Roja Dove
    Amber Absolute by Tom Ford
    Royal English Leather by Creed
    Chypre Palatin by MDCI

This. I would chose Olivier Creed, but I don't believe he produced half the fragrances he claims to have "invented." Romeo Gigli (newer formulation) is another one that he was the perfumer on that doesn't get talked about a lot, but is really a great summer fragrance.

Right! Something just doesn't sit with me about that statement. It's just a suspicion I've had
