A more affordable chypre palatin frag? My friend likes my mcdi and his bday is coming up and i want to gt him something very similar although not over 100$
Hahaa gee thankssss. Whos gnna do a split of chypre palatin round hurrrr
Get the sample set from them but specify a couple of CP samples - this way he gets a couple of smaller bottles of CP and you get to keep three other samples of your choice. From memory, the samples are 12ml in size and you also get the added benefit of the sample set cost being knocked off the cost of any FB purchase
The sample thing im cool with. Mind providing a link? The split thing uhmmm im not very trusting yet haha. Thanks for the answers guys
Im too new haha i dont know how to check this stuff xD. But thanks for the info. Im going to look into this.
Haha. Ok. Ill figure it out thanks.
This fragrance is pretty unique IMO. Can't think of anything off hand that comes close at a cheaper price point.
Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve my or other Basenoters' acknowledgement or respect.
Just for the sake of saying it: yes PalmBeach's split is your best bet. I've joined many splits hosted by him (Including Chypre Palatin) and have zero reservations about recommending his splits. There are several splitters on Basenotes that are top-flight, just stick with the poster that get updated regularly. FWIW.
As others have said, it is very unique. Palm Beach is beyond reliable- dozens upon dozens of us here have participated in his splits; wonderful in all ways.
Don't settle for less. CP is an amazing frag.

Yeah what everybody else says. Give your money to a guy named Palm Beach.
I think the Rochas Femme (the recent one), kinda smells like it, but not exactly the same; Femme smells much "cheaper", of course, and not nearly as sweet as CP. I have to find my sample of Chypre Palatin, and compare the two.

I can think of a way of getting a copy -- but it would mean layering a few and would probably cost more in the end as one of them would be Golden Chypre by Grossmith

You might try looking for Chanel No. 19 online - vintage is best. They are similar.
Anatole Lebreton L'Eau de Merzhin (Luckyscent $110) - is a similar direction but not quite as soft as CP. This is a better fragrance, imo than CP.

Thanks for mentioning the No. 19 recommendation-always perceived the vintage version and the EDP concentration of this one as quite unisex, not finding any reason why either gender could not wear it
KNOWING by Estee Lauder could be a winner if it wasn't for poor performance.
The Vol de Nuit idea might be a good one. New No.19 pale and fruity sweet probably isn't a good alternative for anything. Maybe they've improved it within the last couple of years as some perfumers have learned how to work with the new regulations. Barely any bitter green chypre, and none of the animalics: real tinctures castoreum, ambergris, musk, or much else there last time I smelled it. Maybe a good iris vetiver until the sweet drydown. Must try it again. Vintage No.19 is obviously great but dry as a bone and not the least bit oriental as would need to be for a Chypre Palatin alternative. Vol de Nuit might be a good one although it's probably not as good as it was, and would be better in an EDP. It must not be easy to create the right balance in an EDP or Guerlain would have done it. The parfum is great if you're into parfums.
Sure there must be something but I'm not much into thinking about it lately. :-) Vol de Nuit. Try it.
