Default Tom Ford Tuscan Leather... Discuss

When I smelled it, it smelled just like a brick of cocaine which has a disgusting synthetic chemical aroma. Yet alot of reviews praise this as a masterpiece. Discuss this hate it or love it scent

At first, I thought the raspberry note was too strong, but then it grew on me. Now I really like it! I think it might be the smoothest leather around.

Big fan of this one. Very distinct in what it's attempting to pull off. Notes come off clear and realistic

Is it more for cold weather like the dead of winter? I notice that is when my TF Tobacco Vanille is best during.

    How is projection and longevity?

I think it's vile personally; having read reviews I was expecting raspberry ashtrays and that's exactly what it smells like to me (not that I have a great deal of experience of raspberry loaded ashtrays, to be fair). I can see what they're going for with this one, and I can understand people liking it.. but no, I personally think it's absolutely foul and wouldn't consider paying £10 for it, much less £150

Unfortunately projection and longevity are very good. It is grating, mind-numbingly linear and I don't think the quality lives up to the price tag. The leather accord smells very synthetic and is cranked up way too loud. I realize I am very much in the minority but I really don't like this stuff. Just yuck.

Opulence in a bottle. This is my holy grail.

The smokiness of a new bottle quickly settles down after a few wears.

One of my favs too. Very nice, maybe not for an everyday use. For that I'd go with Charriol Royal Leather, very similar and cheaper (It performs worse but does the job).
... And do me a favor - don't disturb my friend. He's dead tired.

Really like Tuscan Leather, its on my buy list for December.
Last and projects like a fragrance should, you can count on it lasting all day.
I would go light on the trigger, its that strong / durable.
    Fall and winter for sure.

I like this one a lot, but find it hard to wear. Perhaps the only place where I'd feel totally comfortable wearing it is in a cigar club.

I love scents that tell me a story, and Tuscan Leather does.
This is what I wrote in my review:

Opens very sweet, with raspberry being the dominant note, but rapidly moves into a dirty leather note that is disconcerting to me, in one hand smells oily and dirty and on the other it smells like a freshly soaped horse saddle. The raspberry note refuses to leave turning more and more into this fermented fruit juice note creating an effect that is really weird to me.
After maybe half an hour the fermented raspberry starts fading slowly as is replaced by a faint burnt note that in combination with the oily note makes the leather smell more like an old, worn, beaten saddle that has been to the races too many times already, fortunately there is this spicy note in the background that saves the day, so the drydown is not that skunky after all.
It reminded me a horse stable and horse drawn carriage shop from my youth, the leather scent of the saddles, reins etc... together with the leather soap scent, the oily note like the axle grease and the smoky/burnt note from the forge for horseshoes, and the sweet and spicy notes coming from the kitchen next door.
This fragrance brings all that to my mind and as such I should consider it a masterpiece, besides, it really captures the essence of leather like no other perfume I know, but the question is: do I want to smell like THAT?.
Brilliant, but unwearable for me, maybe I'll spray the interior of my car with it, it has vinyl seats so everybody will think is real leather LOL
Sillage is nuclear so be careful when spraying it on you, and it lasts all day+.

I think it is masterpiece as a creative exercise, but again I don't want to smell like that.

I could never come to term with this fragrance. I never thought i would end up paying so much of money to feel nauseated . I finally sold it off. I have decided not to blind buy anything.

    Tom Ford Tuscan Leather... Disgust.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.

Then he'd love it. Strange that he seems to enjoy Montale Aoud Leather, Clive Christian C, and Parfums de Marly Godolphin (which smell very similar to TL), but he's not a fan of Tuscan Leather at all.

Tbh i wasn't thrilled with it at first.. but then i put some on my dad & used him as a guinea pig as i do with a lot of frags. And the sillage smells of sweet raspberry & leather. You should try it.. put a frag on someone else.. you would be surprised at how different a frag smells than if you sniff it off yourself. I sprayed my dad with git & left the room for a few minutes & when i came back i thought he had sprayed a different frag.

The idea is right ... but it's too linear overall, with the raspberry note just too overpowering and lingering. I liked it at first, but it wore me out after a couple of hours. Personally, I like Clive C much more ... and I replaced TL with C in my personal collection.
