Ralph lauren polo is as close as perfection in my books !
Glad to hear you enjoy it, it is indeed one of the most top
notch fragrance for men competing with a lot of french/Italian
made ones and kicking their butt at it !

I have in the past month acquired 5 bottles of vintage polo,
3 bottles from the 'Cosmair' era, one from 'Warner cosmetics'
and one from the 'Warner/Lauren era. I'm in the process of
comparing all of them using Double blind tests and will be
    Posting a thread very soon.

    Regards.

Yes, the original was truly amazing. Wore it all the time back in the day. The new one brings back memories of the original, but it's just not quite the same - just a shadow of the original.
    Seasonal favorites:

    2. Creed - Aventus
    3. Tom Ford - Grey Vetiver

Can anyone tell if & when the production of 30ml bottles were stopped??? I see many available online - wondering the edition of the same...

My new replacement for a similar experience to Polo is Varvatos Vintage. Does not smell the same, but the overall vibe is there.

Ditto what Doug said. Polo was pretty much my go to or signature scent while I was growing up (high school and college) throughout the 80's and into the early 90's.

The 1oz size is still in production. Chances are that most 1oz bottles online are of the newer version.

Thanks for sharing these impressions about this (in my opinion) spectacular classic. Always had consistently good experiences with this particular formulation, remembering it as a rich, luxurious and pleasantly, elegantly mature range of mossy, leathery, woody and even dark herbal (covering other olfactory spectrums aside the mossy ones) kind of notes.

I really loved Polo back in the day however there was a note in it that I found a bit cloying. It reminded me of a hamster cage. Maybe it was cedar? Wish I had a vintage bottle.
It is true that fish stink. It is also true that the river is
beautiful. But the river would be beautiful despite the fish. What
    is noxious remains so.

That is not to say that sh*t is not useful when buried in the wheat
field. Bread made from the field tastes sweet, wine from the arbor
sweetest. All things serve a purpose, but that is no reason to
glorify what is abominable. A man must still watch where he walks
    and keep his sandals clean.
