    Default Made my first purchase

Made my first purchase of what I'd call "real" Cologne. I've been using axe body spray, don't laugh, and the like, but I recently started a job where I wear a sorry as ND tie to work, see patients, and dead l with professionals. I did a lot of decants and finally found one I really liked that worked well in me. Knize Ten. So I ordered from Lucky Scent. Now I'll contribute my search for other scents, I've decided I like vetiver so I have been trying to find one that works on me. So far Fat Electrician and Route are my preferences, waiting on Monta le red vetiver sample. I thought at first I'd find one and call it quits, but I've got the fever. I like the confidence it gives me at work. Remember, coming from Axe... That's a long trip.
Any suggestions you guys may have are welcome. This has turned into an expensive hobby

On my top 10 definetly knize ten is an amazing fragrance. Good pick and enjoy this new madness/hobbie. Check out encre noire for vetiver. Its about 30 bucks and it smells like a 200 dollar fragrance. For an office vetiver i would look into atelier cologne vetyver fatal. Wont break the bank and its a beautiful office safe scent.

Can someone please explain EDT as opposed to an EDP? i have a feeling this is really basic bit I can't get a grasp on it

Without getting into too much detail about percentage. Edp and edt or eau de toilette and eau de parfum are different fragrance concentrations. Edp being the more concentrated one and most likely the more expensive choice. Its just a way to classify a fragrance eon its oil:alcohol ratio... being more concentrated usually gives better performance such as longer lasting and better projection...

If you're dealing with professionals I'd recommend something inoffensive like creed original vetiver, Malle vetiver extraordinaire, Tom ford grey vetiver, or even prada amber or infusion d'homme.

If your looking for Vetiver, maybe try Hermessence Vetiver Tonka. It's a great sweet take on the note. Unfortunately, it's going to reinforce fact that this is an expensive hobby. Congrats on taking the plunge!

I'd love to try the Frederik Malle Vetiver and The Different Company Sol de Vetiver but I'm afraid I'll like them and they are too much right now.
I like Guerlain Vetiver but it doesn't last on me. Grey Vetiver too... I think I have a weird body chemistry. Route de Vetiver I like and may grab it soon.
Like I said in OP, fat Electrician is awesome and lasts all day. I'm decimated getting it

Most of the time I am very proud of the Basenotes community. Time after time I have witnessed the thoughtfulness, empathy & genuine friendship that members of this community extend to others - oldtimers & newcomers alike. There are other times, however, when egos get the upper hand and civility goes out the window. My philosophy is that I won't say anything here that I would not say if you were standing in front of me. Welcome to Basenotes, each and every one of us. ~ TwoRoads

Nope. It's been reformulated, but it's certainly still sold in many retail stores. The current version is still fantastic, so don't worry about the reformulation taking place - not too much has been "lost" - if anything, I think it's slightly more wearable than the original version.

Wow! What a place to begin. I own a leather couch, and I'd swear that every time I pull out my sample of Knize Ten, my couch starts flirting with me. Then again, it *IS* a love seat, and Knize Ten does smell fantastic, so... can you blame it?

If you get any comments of compliments while wearing Knize Ten, please come back to this thread and mention it. I'm always curious about how scents like this are perceived by others. As I said, I only have a sample and (he says with a sad sigh) my sample is almost gone.

My next purchase is going to be Route, or Fat Electrician. I haven't decided yet. I'd love to get something that has the set up like The different Company, where the bottle is refillable and you can buy big bottles for that purpose. The problem is there aren't that many I know of.
