    Hilariously ill-conceived thread.

It is famously known of the Prophet that he preferred musk above all others. Undiluted. For centuries, and to this day, in continuing precisely that tradition, do so many followers of Islam wear musk. Those who can afford it, wear the real thing. Those who cannot, buy 'attar' oils with a mix of synthetics to replicate the smell.

Musk is worn on the hands (so the smell stays with who ever you meet during your day), and rubbed into the beard (so whoever greets you or speaks to you can smell it). Heck, it even used to be mixed into the walls of mosques (often with amber), so when the strong equatorial sunlight would heat it, it would release slowly its smell for those who prayed inside. Into the walls.

I'm thinking something sweeter as opposed to musks or Oud - maybe Jubilation XXV, Sharif (Abdes Salaam), or something salty with a real ambergris tincture. Whatever it is, I would΄t suggest bottling the re-issue in his image.

Not really "trying to prove" anything....other than to ask a question and see what type of answers/reactions we get. I asked a question that also happened to put a theory that some other members had mentioned to the test....and, like you said....so far, so good.

Clearly some responses are troll-ish and unnecessarily provocative. I'm pretty sure the mods are watching this closely...

I think Jesus and Muhammed crossed paths in their journeys so maybe they swaped and sniffed some samples.

If I'm not mistaken, the idea is to make yourself perfectly clean to worship. I'm not Muslim but if I were going to guess something then or now, it would have to be some sort of pure oud oil or possibly some sort of attar.

If this post were serious and phrased differently, such as asking about religious and cultural tradition, that would be a different story. Regardless of OP's initial denials, it's my belief that this post was purposely created to incite or offend Arabic or Muslim members of the board and that's not cool, especially after seeing some of the answers that are being posted.

According to Hadith collections and sirat (these are in Arabic only pretty much), the Prophet Muhammad wore oud and musk. I've seen saffron mentioned also but always with the previous two.

I really don't understand the point of "What would XXXXX wear?" type of posts.

If this makes me a stick in the mud, then so be it. It's just pointless and meaningless rambling.

    Thoroughly agree.

It's ok once in a while. When the forum is filled with technical & to-the-point topics, it's nice to have a small window of whimsical content.
But to have several threads running in parallel.....

If I were a mod, I'd have merged them.

What the fuck is wrong with you guys? One unnecessary thread after the other. I think it was a huge mistake to close the old Off-Topic forum where people could post their shit without bothering others.

Who knows... as an agnostic and living in a catholic/protestant christian nation I have no idea what "Muhammad" (and muslims in general) would wear.
Although, from what I have heard, the man was pretty popular with the opposite sex, so it must of really worked for him.
The Dreamer from Versace: what does this scent have that is so alluring and enticing towards the opposite sex ?

Since the last 6 (deleted) comments were all about baiting muslims and nothing to do with the topic, this thread has, as many predicted, been taken over by the trolls. It's closing time.
