Not sure if it would a "love" for you based on your other favorites, but:

    1) It is the best fragrance ever created
    2) That's a really good price
    3) Longevity is 8 hours easily to my nose

Picking up a $500 bottle of something you haven't smelled is only a good idea if you're okay with sitting on a $500 paperweight while you try to sell it if you don't like it, which would for obvious reasons, be something I advise against. That said, Spice and Wood is one of Creed's best, so if you like spice, and wood, then it's probably a safe blind buy. $500 for a full flacon is about average grey-market pricing, it's definitely a deal versus retail pricing, so you're winning in that regard. However, you can occasionally pick up partial flacons of S&W for much less than $500 if you're patient.

Personally, my next full bottle purchase will not be S&W, but Xerjoff Richwood. I have like 49ml of Spice and wood left in my atomizer and I don't see a need to pick up a full 750ml until next fall, which will last me longer than my tastes in fragrances.

I bought a new flacon off of eBay when it first came out years ago I think I paid $275... It was a blind buy that didn't perform well on my skin at all so I sold it to make a quick buck. It smells pleasant to my nose but not groundbreaking or different enough to set it apart from all the other crowd pleasing creeds and longevity was horrible on me.

That's an insane price for M. The 60ml price is a better price per ml generally, at $330 with the 100ml priced at $590 (luckyscent.com prices). Whoever is asking $800, see if the bottle comes with a gold watch...

That sounds like a good idea. Spice and Wood is wonderful, but I'd hate for you to spend that kind of cash on something you might not like or are apathetic to.

I just picked up 60ml of M for $314 (275 Euro) - $800 for 100ml looks pretty steep to me

Check out some Xerjoff. Get a sample of XJ Homme if you're looking at those kinds of price points, it's a super masculine leather and will make you stop wearing TF TL. Uden is awesome, too, very creamy citrus.

To the OP: That's a very good price indeed. Longevity is excellent with this Creed. If you like the smaller amount you plan to get you can then get yourself a bottle at a later time.

Kobe is a well crafted fragrance, but it's not my cup of tea personally. Xerjoff Homme, Uden, Richwood, XXY, and Nio are all worth checking out IMHO.

Roja Dove is also a fantastic fragrance house in this price point, but I haven't sampled as much, so I can only speak to RD Danger, which is a very good cold-weather frag.

Terrible idea in my book if you haven't smelled it , don't care if "Grant or hednic " recommends it "Please test it out first"
"Thank GOD for the nose, for without it we would not be enjoying these beautiful created Scents" also Remember "Balance is everything and the key to appreciating "

As to your original question, Spice and Wood was one that crept up on me. I was not impressed at first. Nothing jumped out and grabbed my attention so I put the split that I had in the back, rarely taking it out. I started to wear it to work as a safe scent, and over the course of the day found it to open up and bring a smile to my face. Over time I've found it to be one of the nicest scents in my collection. Safe can be good sometimes, and with Spice & Wood it is VERY good. If you get a sample, give it some time and several tries! You may find it surprises you as well. And at 500$, it's a great price point. I'd be surprised to find it though for that, and would be very suspicious.

I personally like royal oud more than spice and wood. I get horrible performance from it. I had a 5ml decant I went through. I wish there was a viable alternative to it cause I love the scent. Blind buying a scent that cost more than $200 is out of the question to me. Thats my blind buy limit. All good basenoters should have one. Well except hednic lol

A beautiful fragrance that I get great longevity from - although I wouldn't risk $500 on a blind buy.

I suggest sampling S&W before you invest serious money into this flacon. There are plenty of ways of acquiring a sample or small decant whether it's at retails (Neiman Marcus and select, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstroms, and Bloomingdales.) or online such as Lucky Scent and The Perfume Court or from a fellow BNer here or a seller from Crystal Flacon website. Hope that helps.

Not really. I do get very vague similarities between Spice and Wood and Aventus, and even less with Royal Oud. None at all with Original Vetiver. Incidentally Original Vetiver is my favourite among the four just mentioned.
