Very impressive indeed! I aspire to have a collection of that magnitude someday.

Here is my much more modest collection. My apartment has this nice built in niche in the wall that makes a perfect display. Starting to run out of space though, and I’ve got two more bottles on the way this week (not to mention a shoebox of samples, not pictured).

Very nice. Our tastes might be a bit similar - I love/like nearly all of those.

How does the Encre Noire Sport (and Extreme) compare to Encre Noire? I'm a bit curious about both, but especially Encre Noire Sport.

Thanks! I really like the whole Encre Noire line. I think the Extreme is my favorite of the flankers - it's very warm, resinous, spicy, has a lot of patchouli and incense added. I like the sport a lot too, I've been wearing it a lot this spring. It performs reeealllly well in my experience - 3-4 sprays lasts 8-10 hours on me. I would say it's the most synthetic smelling of the bunch. It's got a lot of lavender, citrus and aquatic notes - maybe calone? That part gets a little cloying for me after a while, especially given its potency. I would say the Sport is closer to the original. The Extreme is a bit more complex. Both the flankers are more "wearable" than the original as the sharp inky cypress/vetiver is toned down and balanced out with the other notes. I like them all though, especially given the price. Have you tried Sycomore? I hear that's similar but perhaps "a step up" from Encre Noire. I think a decant of that might be one of my next purchases.

Tradition, you have some treasures here! I’m coveting those big Chanels, as well as your sandalwood oil!

You definitely could add a few Chanels into the collection.

Thanks for the compliments! And the help in building my collection

I'm holding off on any new purchases for the next month or two, but a Sycomore decant will be first on my list for upcoming purchases!

That should knock those Encre Noirs right out of their front-row positions.

I think if Tradition had any doubt, he'd be in the market for a few more. He should be set with multiple backups, even if his rotation is relatively small. For the things he's backing up, the value will appreciate, and he'll be able to sell them at a profit.

Collecting itself can be fun: baseball cards, etc.

Thanks Zizzy. Bavard and FiveoaksBouquet have read my mind really well. It made sense to buy backups of a few of my favorite fragrances while I could afford it. You can see what has happened to prices and availability of good vintage fragrances over the years.

You’re right, I likely won’t use them all in my life (common basenotes dilemna ), but I can enjoy them without fear of running out anytime soon. Also, I can share with my family and friends and bring a smile on their face or sell them back, if my tastes change.

    Hi Mr. Prince,

You’re off to a good start! If Tuscan Leather is among the first bottles you own, there likely isn’t much you’d be afraid to try

Given you seem to like deep, smoky scents, you might enjoy:
Parfums de Marly (Herod would be a good place to start),
    Phaedon Tabac Rouge,
Tom Ford Noir de Noir, Tobacco Oud, London
Bulgari, Eau Parfumee au The Noir
    Perhaps some Tiziana Terenzi?

    Welcome, and enjoy the journey!

I like the way the bottles are spaced so each label can be read. Enjoy your collection!
