Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve my or other Basenoters' acknowledgement or respect.
Lauder for Men (vintage)
Wore my own MadHat Embers tonight, it's a comfort scent for me and warming in visual aesthetic. Stay warm all!
Good morning all !. Day off with an early start but I can't say I am looking forward to it. Received desperately worrying reports concerning a lifelong friend and heading up to Yorkshire to try and provide some moral support. I have little medical knowledge but having been informed of his symptoms / appearance I really think I have to prepare for the worst, even as a born optimist. A number of us are rallying round today to try and lift his spirits. Good vibes would be gratefully received - thanks in anticipation.
Rive Gauche PH.
((Jon)) I will be thinking of you today as you try to help your friend. Safe travels as well!
Good morning gang, and happy Friday to you all.
(((Jon))) as per our private chats, my best wishes for a happy outcome. Thinking of you.
Wearing Salvador Dali pour Homme.
Hello all. Rochas Femme old style pdt pre 1989 and the cumin.
((((Jon)))) a ton of good vibes being sent your way. l hope your friend will be alright, he certainly has some good friends around him.
Not synching today as l needed something to evoke springtime, so l'm draining my sample of Wit by DelRae.
"What is this secret connection between the soul, and sea, clouds and perfumes? The soul itself appears to be sea, cloud and perfume..." - from Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis.
Jon, I do hope your friend will be ok.
He is lucky to have a friend like you.
I am synching with Shiseido Feminite du Bois.
A woman without perfume is like a flower without a scent.
PdN, Vanille-Tonka, vtg.
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."
Clarice Lispector ( 1920-1977) - Perfumes da Terra / Earth Perfumes
Happy Friday gang
((Jon)) best wishes to your friend. I do sincerely hope it isn't the worst case scenario.
donna255 you smell amazing, pre 1989 Femme is a masterpiece.
L'Heure Brillante today. The tart citrus and stemmy greenness was perfect for a warm day. Tonight I'm synching with Cuir de Russie vintage parfum. Investment wise this one has given the most pleasure relative to the effort spent acquiring it. This how I choose to gauge ROI perfume wise.

Good morning, good smelling people. Jon, I hope you all bring some comfort and hope and happiness to your friend today.
Not synchronized today - I believe that would be Mure et Musc, that's the first one I needed the big bottle of. I am wearing today just a dab of Tom Ford Black Orchid.
Jon, hoping for the best for your friend, and a big hug to you.
I'm wearing Dior Homme today.
Fumerie Turque for me today.
Best to everyone.

Good morning everyone I have a Nightshift weekend and tonight the first out of three shifts. I think it's ok working at night, but would prefer to have the weekend off. It suited me quite well to sleep in today. I went to a concert with Jarle Bernhoft yesterday. It was awsome. Jon, I'm so sorry about your friend. I'll keep my fingers crossed for him! Today's synch I find a bit confusing. I could either wear my first classic scent, that I felt was a bit of sn investment at the time ( Shalimar) or my first Niche ( Chergui). I think I 'll go for the Chergui. It took some effort to aquire it. At the time I was unaware that I could simply get it on the Serge Lutens site Have a great weekend all , and hugs to those in need of one.

Always makes me chuckle to see weather in the 50-60's described as cold as that's when we usually expect summer is on its way :-). Currently it's -2F here. I'm wearing Embers again, continuing from last night. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Stay safe and warm all!
I guess you could say wearing my own MadHat Embers would have me fall in for "investment perfume" as well. I put a TON of time into tincturing the specific incense tears, resins and gums to create the fragrance...while waiting several months for the materials to mature as well.

But yes, I am cold when it's 60F.
Tea For Two
My dear Jon, with friends like you, who needs angels?
Donna's SotD, Rochas Femme, is a goodie. I smelled Rochas in the vial I have and enjoyed the sniff, but for an all-day chypre that I think qualifies as a classic, I am turning to J-L Scherrer cuz it's got that green thang.
In a world where 6 million people are added each month, every landscape matters.
In sync with Sous Le Vent. I bought a pricey large bottle from a visiting Guerlain rep on my birthday.
Spicebomb by Viktor & Rolf
In synch today with Besmi by Erne. Erne made this just for me in 1978 and made me a refilll in 1992. Unfortunately I think this is the end of it as it has evaporated. His things did tend to do that. He was wonderful and had this very nice shop in Scotsdale, AZ. He has passed on but lots of people miss him including me. He told me once he worked on White Shoulders.
Jon, sending good vibes for you and your friend.
30 Roses, how are you?
Jon, safe travels and my thoughts are with you and your friend.
I am in synch with Balmain de Balmain
“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.”
― Dwight D. Eisenhower
Jon, thinking of you and your friend today and hoping for the best.
In synch with Teo Cabanel Alahine extrait de parfum. This was the first scent I bought that wasn't from a department store.
It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.--Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
Keiko Mecheri Loukhoum. I don't think of investment in scents, but I am a bargain hunter and this is the first one I spent more than $40 on.
