Default Best Cartier Frag to sample?

    Hello,

I'm a Creed junkie but someone suggested Cartier as another option. Any opinions on the best
Cartier frag to start out with to get a feel for the brand?

    Thanks!

Would recommend starting off with a few classics but also more recent releases, like: Santos, Pasha, Declaration, Roadster

    Declaration to start.

Santos is my favorite, it's dark, woody and quite powerful. It is a classic 80s fragrance, and well worth trying out.

Roadster is a great, fresh-minty fragrance that is worth sampling as well.

    Declaration is their "go-to".

But the opening is pretty bold and really not as soft and easy as Creed fragrances. So you might have to wait until it comes into place. But it's a great fresh mature one. Kind of the ancestor of an all-time great: Terre d'Hermes EDT from the same creator.

For a Creed fan Declaration Essence/D'un Soir (Rose scent) or Roadster/Roaster Sport might be the way to start though.

Cartier is a house with many quality fragrances. I would recommend:

    Pasha
    Santos
    Declaration
    Roadster
    Declaration Essence
Must de Cartier Homme (if you can find it)
Santos Sport (if you can find it)
Currently wearing: Infusion d'Homme by Prada

Roadster and Santos from the usual lineup. (The Roadster Sport is a bit commonplace.)

Also try the Heures (Cartier's exclusive line) if you feel inclined. The Heure IV Fougueuse is a wonderful chypre.

As far as designers go, Declaration is one of the best and most versatile scents to have in my opinion.

I do like Declaration, but I would nominate it for the category of....."fragrance that changes the most from the opening to dry down".

It literally went from something I thought seriously about scrubbing off after applying to a totally different dry down that I really liked. The dry down is so different from the opening that it's like a completely different cologne. Really an amazing cologne.

I still need to test Roadster.

Cartier has a really solid lineup. I would just sample them all, but as Pluran listed, don't forget about those hard to find special luxury releases. Pricey, but always something worth trying.

My fav's are Declaration, Pasha, Must pour Homme and Declaration D'un Soir.
Seeking: Bottles/decants : of Pomegranate Noir, Midnight in Paris EDP, Feeling Man, Essence of John Galliano, Azzaro pour Homme (vintage),...etc.

Seeking decant/sample of PdE Ambre Russe, Jil Sander Feeling Man, Comme des Garcons 2 Man, Giorgio VIP, ....etc. I have samples to swap.

Santos was always my favorite until they reformulated it.
If you can get the original version you'll be quite impressed - the fragrance just exudes class and distinction.

    Original Pasha is also nice.

    Reformulations are a big disappointment.

Declaration is definitely the one to start your quest with... btw I just read in another thread that the new For Him by NR is a "99%" clone of Declaration so maybe you might want to try that too.
