No. Aku Akira was released a number of years ago and no longer available. Its a really lovely Hindi with a slight herbal zing. Medium to medium heavy on the barn depending on your tolerance.

Wearing the tiniest sample ever of Ensar's Borneo Zen and thoroughly enjoying it.

Riddle me this. If one doesn't like Oud Yusuf because of the rubbery opening. Doesn't like Green Papua because it's too seaweedy. Somewhat likes Tigerwood1995 because while there is a slight rubberiness to it, but it isn't overwhelming. But that person loves Borneo Zen because there is zero rubber notes in it and is straight to the dark, woody, muddy notes... where should that person experiment next?

Sounds like you prefer perfumes to actual oud oils, if you still wish to pursue oud oils maybe some Borneo ones like Tranquilla or Virgin Sumatra Island by Feel Oud...

Other Borneo ouds. Which, mind you, are not inexpensive. Good luck!

Cheers guys. I just ordered samples of Virgin Sumatra Island and 777. I'll report back with impressions whenever they arrive.

The easy answer if you do like oud is to try more oud oils and maybe you'll find one or more that don't have what you describe as a rubber note.

Regarding scent profile, Borneo Zen does not share notes with typical single ingredient Borneo agarwood oils. Borneo Zen is a mukhallat, which is a combination of essential oils. Borneo Zen is a mixture of Borneo oud, sandalwood, Turkish rose, musk, jasmine, and may have unlisted essential oils as well. IMO it's well blended but certainly not oud dominant.

    This afternoon:

Sultan de Ceylan - Ensar Oud

A Sri Lankan walla patta/Maroke co-distillation. Certainly interesting, but I think I prefer them separate rather than together.

I know the general consensus is to stay away from Abdul Samad Alquarashi oud oils because "there's no telling what they put in it".

That said, I've done trials of feel oud and ensar oud but my favorite oud oil to date (excluding Borneo Zen which I love) is my cheapie ASQ "Elite Oud Oil" that was $80 after the 50% discount. ASQ also has much higher end stuff like Aged Kalakassi oil that's $2,000 AFTER the 50% discount but I have no desire to smell it.

I guess I'm just curious what could be in this mystery cheap blend of Elite Oud Oil that makes it easier for my nose to digest? To me it smells like wet, freshly stripped tree bark with a strong barnyard element. Zero rubberiness to be found (which I like)
