Strangers Parfumerie || Scotch Peat (2019)

This is one fine fragrance, superbly crafted and just look at that note listing..

This is a dark, herbal smoky leather in the same realm as Bel Ami and Rojas Fetish - well done Prin.

    Creed - Original Vetiver.

New to frags . Order a 10ml decant as most frags seem to have Vetiver and wanted to see what it smelt like. Its very soapy at first but settles down to something more pleasing.

I would not get a bottle though or another decant.

Sydney Rock Pool answers the question, "What if Tom Ford Oud Minerale was actually good?"
I went through my full dabber sample and I really liked it. Have been trying to decide whether or not I want a full bottle. I am guessing it will have a little better projection when I can apply two full spays from the bottle. I like the sun baked skin vibe I get from it. May have to order a bottle today.

Ralph Lauren - Chaps Cologne (from an old official sample - maybe from 80's?)

The very opening had a sweet smell kind of like British Sterling, but it very soon changes after that. The spice comes out, an almost ambrette smell (muskmallow-lite, haha). I was assuming this was gonna be a harsh old-school frag, but nope, it's actually quite well behaved with a little bite. Like a suave gentleman, but he doesn't take crap from no one! Calm, but with vigor.

    Not bad!

Edit: Might smell kind of like a green leather, or maybe it's from the spices, I don't know. It's kinda funny, a lot of the older/classic stuff people pass up and think it's too outdated or sucks or something - but if you told people this was a newly released niche frag by MDCI or something, they might 100% believe you. Perspective is powerful.

Here's a few cheapie suggestions to try Lalique Encre Noire and Guerlain Vetiver. These are of the dry grassy kind of vetiver.

I can attest that Sydney Rock Pool projects decently when you get proper sprays on your skin. My wife put some on and it was very perceptible.

Iris Oriental (formerly Iris Taizo) by Parfumerie Generale (Pierre Guillaume)

Oooooh, interesting! This smells like mixing iris with a Froot Loops cereal smell (neroli) plus a Musc Ravageur-lite! That's pretty cool. And then there's like a carrot smell too.

    Cool opening,

    Liquides Imaginaires - Belle Bete

Yeah, not for everyone. However, in the air it's more tame perhaps. When I was first applying it was like... a fruity animalic. And smelled pretty pleasing! Up close it has more a bad breath/halitosis smell (different than MKK's halitosis smell).

But yeah, I guess an animalic + leather + fruits. Also with like a rubber smell as well.

Need more time with it - if it smelled just like the fruity aspect even while smelling up close, I'd lean more towards a full bottle. But the bad breath aspect is kind of strong when smelling up close, haha

I'm waiting for someone, anyone, to steer things away from every intense flanker in every line smelling exactly the same as the other. I had my fingers crossed because I'm nostalgic and will always like Armani. Oh well. As we both said, it's still a good fragrance, though.

I wouldn't judge ones love for orange blossom on Dilettante. There are other things going on in there, like petitgrain ( which ruins a lot of orangy scents for me). It's pretty much the whole orange tree in that one.

    Aventus Cologne

Yeah, I got the Aventus vibe right off the bat. Now that I see people comparing it to Allure Homme Sport and Versace Pour Homme, yeah I can see that.

I enjoy Versace Pour Homme, I'm not that big on AHS or Aventus. Maybe I'll like this one more than regular Aventus, dunno. She approves so far from what I can tell, haha.

It kind of seems like.. if a clone company tried to do a copy of Aventus (fruity, not birchy) so far - but up to regular standards? It might have kind of that stupid synthetic-y (almost, this one does indeed seem more well done and perhaps smoother) of frags like The Scent of Peace for Him. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

A really very nice fragrance mash-up that has overlap with so many different fragrances that somehow forms a distinct personality, making it both easy and very hard to describe.

This is very good, though, and not just in a "for the price" way.

He. I guess I shouldn't rule out a note based on one fragrance indeed. So the green blast in the beginning is probably due to the petitgrain?
