    Sospiro - Duetto

Nice. One of the better rose/oud combos I've smelled. This actually has a legitimate, or close to, oud smell - a little skanky which I prefer. Nice.

Edit: aw, the skanky aspect goes away then it's more of a standard oud smell. Oh well.

They pretty much all smell decent/good, though Montale Black Aoud is kind of.. boring to my nose. My favorite's might be Oud Ispahan, Rose d'Arabie (in the older crappier boxes, I'm suspicious of a reform with the magnetic boxes), and perhaps Xerjoff's More Than Words.

    Neroli Woods

This is the budget Neroli Portofino clone you’ve been looking for.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.

Rose d'Arabie and Our Ispahan were the more memorable rose/oud combos. I also enjoyed early formulations of Tom Ford Noir de Noir.

Tom Ford Plum Japonais - It is nice. Doesn't knock my socks off or anything. Seems a bit feminine. I don't see myself wearing it, personally. I think it is growing on me. Maybe I'll need to spend some more time with it.

I recently tried a fragrance called Miyako from the house of Auphorie. I got a similar vibe to Plum Japonais when wearing it. I picked up on a plum like note in addition to woods and leather note. An ok scent overall.

    CK One Shock for Him

Not bad. Not as cloying as I’d imagined it, but I feel I’ve got cocoa gourmands covered by LIDGE and DHP in my collection, and I’d probably choose either of them over this when I’m in the mood for that style. The patchouli in the base also reads as slightly medicinal to me rather than my preferred dry, clean style.

I’ll revisit this when the weather is a bit cooler because I don’t think a brief wearing at the end of a 23 degree day shows this fragrance at its best.

Yeah, warm weather won't do its composition any favors.

I tried out Banana Republic Neroli Woods. Nice clean, fresh scent. Reminds me of fresh linen or of dryer sheets. I hate when people make that comparison but it's what I think of. I hint of floral. Smells pretty good but probably not for me.

    Galope by Hermes:
Reminded me of an unusual rose scent with both the wine-like species and the powdery-spicy variety being mixed with a modern woody base. More subtle than most of the niche woody roses that I've tried. More rose-focused than Paestum Rose, but similar. Green, waxy, faux incense undertones. Liked it very much.

The disparity between the Fragrantica and Basenotes rating for this is hilarious. This is one for the old-school crowd, to be sure.

I'm spending my evening with this, courtesy of Bavard. It's a beautiful, classic sandalwood scent with an animalic touch. I can just imagine all the Broventus types recoiling in horror.

Miyako does have a feminine feel to it as well but it's not overpowering like Plum Japonais. I felt they were at par to one another, they're ok nothing worth owning.

This is one of the best sandalwood scents to own, especially if you like Mysore sandalwood. I have this in my collection but sadly the animalistic notes makes this very difficult for me to wear. I don't wear it much anymore, I prefer other choices for sandalwood.

I wouldn't wear it out and about, not just because of the civet, but also because it got over-the-top powdery as it developed on my skin. My wife informed me that it smelled like I'd doused myself in talcum powder.

But it was a nice glimpse at the diversity of Creed's past offerings.
