Bortnikoff Musk Cologne. This is a big wow for me. It's got some traces of Amber Cologne (which I own) in the opening. It then goes it's own direction with one of the most beautiful musks I've experienced. Not a heavy projector, but a great aura around your skin. I might have to pick this up soon!
Initio Atomic Rose. This has Initio's DNA written all over it right at the opening, with that hedione. Settles into a pretty masculine rose. Future buy, perhaps.
Marc-Antoine Barrois B683. Great opening that settles into a musky leathery saffron. 3 for 3 with my samples this evening.

This one doesn't get much mention, but every time I wear it, the quality stands out. Great smell and wonderful longevity.
    Spot on.

Woahhh! Monotheme Black Label - Leather arrived today.
Leather leather leather - softly exotic with the saffron and 'precious woods' (like smoky ashy spent agar chips), but these are very distant in comparison with the throbbing leather note.
    This is how it smells!

Occitane Eau des Baux. Reminded me a lot of Spicebomb or Musc Ravageur, or maybe Coromandel. Sweet vanilla and spice but also something "transparent" to it - like spiced tea more so than spiced pastries.

Banana Republic has some really nice entries in its line and this is one of them, a rose-oud descended from Oud Ispahan. Like the other winners from Banana Republic, it does a terrific impression of luxe-niche style at budget prices (it's $30 for the larger bottle at my local boutique).

Franck Olivier Oud Touch, another cheapie in this style, is more complex than this (like most Banana Republic scents, Oud Mosaic is kinda minimalist), so I'd give Oud Touch the edge, but Banana Republic smells as though it has utilized higher grade materials, so your preference will depend a bit on what you value.

    Big Sky by Roads
This was a TJ Maxx blind buy - no immediate place to try, hardly any reviews online, so I took the plunge based on the notes, perfumer and 75% discount from retail price. I was prejudiced in the sense that this could be a rich parents offspring's vanity project, but fortunately for me the perfume turned out well done and nice. It doesn't remind of the "african sky" marketing BS, but instead it feels more like middle eastern appropriation, very much akin to CK Euphoria Amber Gold mixed with fruity/rose funky barnyard oud along the lines of BR Oud Mosaic or Oud Ispahan. I need a full wear, but a half-spray on my wrist had very good longevity. So far it's a strong like and one of my better blind buys.

    Blind buy:
This Black version is a fragrance on its own but it has the flowery-lavender combo of the original but this one is more sharper and green in the opening phase imo. Most probably because of the more prominent bergamot-patchouli combo. It also has no tobacco compared to the original and is only slightly soapy compared to the way more soapy original. The pyramid on Fragrantica is completely wrong and for the 'Black' version they just copied the pyramid of the original 'Open' version! The base is very woody-mossy with nice hints of green and leather and smelling very sophisticated and mature! The longevity is like 6-8 hrs and the projection is only above average the first 20 mins and after that pretty discrete and below average for sure.
People who like Antaeus, Oscar de la Renta pour Lui, Santos, Polo green, original R&G Open will probably like this as well but this one is less strong compared to those.
My Top '11' of main current rotation in no particular order:

    - Paco Rabanne: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - Antaeus (vtg)
    - Azzaro: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - TF: Ombré Leather
    - Cartier: Santos edt (vtg)
    - Guerlain: Héritage (vtg)
    - Thierry Mugler: A*men
    - SA: Al Basel
    - D&G: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - Mancera: Red Tobacco
    - Mancera: Aoud Vanille

Mousse Illuminee by Rogue Perfumery. I get a lovely fresh blast of sweet moss and musk with incense and cypress. It has that old school shaving cream vibe and is quite potent. I get the polo vibe but this is more unisex. It is quite linear but all in all a very good green herbal like scent. Thumbs up!
