Not exactly sure what your question is but here cologne is a term used for men's fragrance and perfume used for women's fragrance.

I know for this cologne is a term used for men's fragrance and perfume used for women's. But explain difference?

It's confusing as Americans use the term 'cologne' for all fragrances, don't they?

Over here, cologne usually means a light, usually citrusy fragrance -- mainly associated with men, which has limited longevity -- but the lines are being blurred now due to marketing ploys.

I don't think there is a difference and I am not sure where the term cologne comes from. I just think men were uncomfortable with the term perfume being applied to men's fragrance.

The word perfume derives from the Latin per fumum, meaning "through smoke."

All fragances are perfumes. When asking another person what it is they're wearing, you'd probably say "perfume", "fragrance", "cologne", "scent" or whatever the hell you want. I don't usually use the word "perfume" when I ask a guy what he's wearing but it's common among most people in the perfume industry. You probably wouldn't ask a woman what "cologne" she's wearing. Probably ought to try it, though. She might like it. :-)

I see Colin Maillard covered the concentrations. He's good about stuff like that. Killer Wikipedia page on perfume.

Thanks to all for replying ... You mean to say that men use cologne word instead of perfume as cologne is symbol of MACHISMO . But why perfume manufacturer use EDC & EDP for both men & women perfumes?

    EDC specify Eau De cologne
    EDP specify Eau De perfume

Care to make the effort to search and read any explanation of industry's standard terms like the Wiki one posted above? EDC and EDP are just concentrations and as such can be used for whatever perfume.

The term cologne solely used by many American speakers for whatever nonsense reason to refer to any perfume has nothing to do with the technical term Eau de Cologne.

The wikipedia link explains it well.
