Default Dipping my toe into the world of Amouage ...

I've got a shopping basket full of Amouage samples waiting for me to press the checkout button.

Here's the thing though, I'm not sure if any of them will be to my liking so I might just try 4/5.

    As a heads up, my favourite fragrances are;

    HDP 1740
    Lonestar Memories
    Sables
    Chanel Cuir De Russie
    Antaeus
    Kouros
    C&S #88
    Aramis 900
    Obsession for Men

Reading some reviews, I think Lyric might be an option as I have some Rose scents, but the rest are generally woody / birch / leather / immortelle heavy (except Kouros and Obsession).

I've sampled Dior Leather Oud, which although nice, was basically Aramis JHL to my nose.

    Any recommendations greatly appreciated chaps.

Given your tastes, I'd say definitely Interlude man, deep woody-incensy, powerful too, even in the later batches (the first ones, reportedly, were nuclear). Fate man has a lot of immortelle, though it's not necessarily better than 1740 or Sables. And then I'd say journey man.

My favorite is perhaps Gold man, but I'm not sure it'll click with you. It's a big civety floral oriental. Also Jubilation XXV, a radiant frankincense. I find Lyric a bit too sporty masculine, but it has many estimators.

I think you would probably like Lyric and Jubilation.

I'm not sure you'd like Lyric. Lyric is a fresh, almost sporty rose scent and you seem to like darker fragrances. Lyric smells like shampoo to me.

I think you might like Jub XXV, Journey, Epic, Interlude, and if you like Sables, make sure you sample Fate Man (immortelle).

Beloved Man is my personal favourite, followed by Opus VI and Dia.

Given your list, definitely check out Memoir Man.

Don't forget Memoir! But yes, by the looks of your tastes, Interlude Man will probably go down well. As others have mentioned, I'd be wary of Lyric and, although it's a popular favorite, I don't think Jub XXV is all that. Last, don't be afraid to check out some of the "Woman" branded versions. Amouage, perhaps more so than any other brand who designates by gender, has largely proven that such designation is arbitrary.

    That's brilliant.

Looks like interlude is a no-brainer for starters.

I'm certainly not averse to sampling the 'woman' scents.

If you do look into Lyric, go for the vintage. The new stuff is horrible.

    Thanks all.

    Narrowed down to ...

    Interlude
    Journey
    Memoir
    Jubilation
    Fate

That should keep me going for a while.

I'm off to research their 'woman' equivalents now.

I would remove Fate and replace with Dia Man.

Lyric Woman and Epic Woman are excellent.

I'm happy to stick with Fate due to the Immortelle.

    Lyric Woman has some appeal.

out of your list I love

    HDP 1740
    Antaeus
    Kouros
    Aramis 900
    Obsession for Men

    IMHO...I would suggest
    Interlude
    Fate
    Epic
    Memoir
    Opus V and VI

I also get a weird association at times with Aramis 900 to Jubilation XXV, Dia and Lyric....but that's just my nose talkin'

If you're interested in Amouage attars, I would highly recommend Sultanpasha's Amouage attars sampler. He's a Basenotes member and based in the UK. Also ask him for some ASAQ Black Musk Gazelle to sample.

Thanks for the 'heads up' but I'm not going down that route.

If I can't buy it in a shop, I can't see the point sampling it.

...if I were you I would not look at the scents that ressemble your preferences; those are the scents you already posess (why have three Immortelle scents??)...I would look at those that make the difference from what you already have...??

    The style is consistent.
You'll either like it dislike their motif.
