Default Magnet by Eclectic Collections - the best "cheapo" ever ?

Not sure if it was originally marketed as a "cheapo," but at Perfume Emporium now you can get 100 ml for about $10 if you use discounts and discount sites, such as Ebates. In any case, I was expecting this scent to fall apart at some point in the drydown (such as to go with a metallic/synthetic, abrasive woody note), but it never did. Here's my review:

...This seems like an excellent Dior Homme Intense type scent, from what I've read (I have yet to sample that one). I've tried DH (new and old), LIDGE, LIDG, and Kokorico, and Magnet is a great buy. It's not as powdery as original DH and not as "synthetic" as Kokorico. In fact I was surprised at how "high quality" it feels! I get little patchouli so that's not an issue for those who dislike it the A*Men kind of way. It's not a sugar overdose scent either. I get some lemony citrus, a slight powdery quality (not "wet" or heavy but not metallic/harsh either), and there's also a cocoa quality with some non-irritating musk. A hint of spice might be present as well. And the vanillic element is less obvious than in many others of this genre. Perhaps most interesting of all is how the vetiver seems to pervade the scent but in a very mild way. Longevity is excellent but projection is moderate to good.

Wow, that sure does sound good. I don't see it listed at Fragrantica either. Where did you hear about it?

Never heard about this so far, but thanks for the suggestions. Low prices do not automatically exclude good or, at the very least, decent quality and this may just as well be some additional evidence.

I should mention that scents like Playboy VIP are quite good "cheapos," but Magnet is head and shoulders above those.

Was interested till the review said its a pseudo EDP thats more like an EDC. It needs a Super Turbo Ultimate Extreme edition to garner further interest from me but thanks for sharing.

just received my MAGNET by Eclectic Collections, today. YES....it almost smells like LIDGE....but not quite. But....for the price and how it does smell....I LOVE IT !!
One of the best cheapies ever. I paid $6.43 on Perfume Emporium. It is now, however.. showing $8.99....
It says EDP....but it's closer to EDT for me....But who cares?? It is an awesome scent..bang for your buck !!
    Highly recommended.

No, but Freelance-Gallant is being sold cheaply by Fragrancenet, for those who want to go for a blind buy.

Got this on swap from Bigsly and it really is a good fragrance. My nose picks up a powdery soft cocoa/iris combo with the vibe of DH/DHI going on. Never tried LIDGE so I'm not sure of that comparison. This one is a steal even if it was priced higher. Not cheap or synthetic as one may assume with a cheapo fragrance. A very safe blind buy for those who are curious.

Edit: Almost through the second day wearing. Into the dry down, I'm now noticing a Habit Rouge"ish" citrus coming through... Rather interesting fragrance.

Ordered one. Have Aperitif, which is no worse than many designers, glowing praise that may be for a fruity aquatic. This one sounds to be worth a shot at just $13, as DH is my gf's favorite. The musk in the base might be an issue, unless it's a fairly clean white musk.

Got it. Sprayer doesn't work, but it can dribble some out if inverted. Gf likes it, does have a sorta DH vibe, with some citrus. Going to get new glass sprayers to decant into, maybe take a chance on another new bottle. Shipping wasn't the fastest, but it's cheap.

One I like even better, and which I just discovered, is Amber by Iceberg, which is like a diluted Ambre Sultan, but with a rum note added, IMO. I actually prefer it to AS.

Were do you guys buy this from? The only place I see it for sale is "GalaxyPerfumes.co.uk" and I have no idea about them! Seems to have mixes reviews and don't accept PayPal.. Anywhere else stock it?

I see the Galaxy Perfumes place must be the same as the US based site. I can't recall the name of it. But a YouTube reviewer provided a link to the store. It just looks like Galaxy but its US based. Similar in that respect to say, Beautyspin and Beautyspin UK.

Problem is they don't accept PayPal. I like to use PayPal when dealing with stores I'm somewhat unfamiliar with. Almost everywhere accepts it these days. But unfortunately these guys dont seem to. I was really keen to get my hands on this fragrance. But I can't find it stocked anywhere else. Strange!
