Default What Type of Citrus is Dior Homme Cologne 2013 and Mugler Cologne

Hello basenotes! Yesterday I went out to do some volunteer work out in the middle of nowhere. A place where the the best fragrance you can get your hands on is the Axe spray from the store down the road, which unsurprisingly is also the only store in town. I'm staying here for 2-3 weeks. I brought some nice niche scents but I feel like I'm wasting them here so I'm looking to blind buy an everyday cologne and have it shipped overnight.

I really enjoy bergamot and neroli. I cannot stand lemon and I don't want to buy a lime scent because they are rarely executed well. I've looked at the note breakdowns but those can be deceiving so I came looking for personal experience. So my question is what type of citrus do you get from dior homme cologne and mugler cologne?

I find DHC to be more lemony than MC, which smell more green and soapy. I passed on the former; the latter is a personal favorite.

To me, Mugler Cologne has a bright neroli opening. I'm sure there are other notes, but this is the one that stands out the most. There is a hint of sweetness. I have tried it only 3 or 4 times.

The Dior Homme Cologne (2013) is a bergamot-grapefruit blossom pairing. I'm familiar with bergamot and grapefruit, but not grapefruit blossom. But I pick out a grapefruit-like note which I naturally assume to be what is mentioned as grapefruit blossom. The sharp, zesty opening is more of bergamot, and the grapefruit is prominent after 5 minutes or so.

I much prefer the Mugler Cologne.
Looking to swap for Bois du Portugal (5-10 ml).
Have Green Irish Tweed, Silver Mountain Water, Vetiver Extraordinaire, Incense Oud, Tobacco Oud and others.

Kindly PM. USA Only. Thank you.

Both are great fragrances, but I find the opening of the Dior to be fresher and more well-rounded (more citrus), while the Mugler has a vibe that's better for humid environments. Both have a similar soapy white musk drydown.

Can't go wrong with either one.

DHC is a blast of bergamot that comes off lemony. To me, It really doesn't smell at all like grapefruit . It also has musk and grapefruit blossom (which is maybe why people are saying it smells like grapefruit?) which makes it slightly floral. Mugler Cologne is far more soapy and clean than citric in my opinion.

Yes you can with one of them, and people often do.

Agree. I like the Dior more in hot weather (summer), but Mugler really shines in the cooler spring weather. Mugler Cologne is perfect for a spring day. Dior Homme Cologne 2013 is perfect for a summer day.

Adding a rather belated viewpoint: irrespective of the actual citrus fruit note, it is always a soapy, crisp fresh. casual, almost "out of the shower" type of citrus I get from both fragrances
