Default Searching for a heavier/stronger Japanese Incense

Need an incense for a larger open space - prefer hinoki/sandalwood/aloeswood-oriented scents. I have treated myself to Genroku from Shoyeido, which was beautiful, but better for a smaller contained space.

I had bought Fred Soll's Desert Patchouli which did the trick as far as strength goes, but haven't tried their Sandalwood yet. Also occasionally use Swiss Arabian Bakhoor al Rahma is certainly strong enough!

I get the impression that most Japanese fragrances are not intended to be heavy, so I'm probably looking for the exception (relatively affordable would be plus). Thanks so much!

I'm not certain it will have the 'projection' you are after, but I'd suggest Nippon Kodo - Morning Star - Cedarwood. The entire Morning Star line is gorgeous but I'm partial to Cedarwood in particular; I'll confess in part as Tyler Brl was using it to scent his Monocle shop/bureau in Toronto.

    Thanks Lannister,
Nippon Kodo/ Morning Star/Cedarwood may suit the bill - and affordable too! Will certainly check it out.

There was a large wonderfully eccentric interiors store here that scented their entire double space with Santa Maria Novella potpourri, which got me hooked. The projection is limited though for a large space, unless you buy a LOT of it, which they obviously did (and it's not cheap). Sadly, the store is no longer. It's definitely my favorite interiors scent, and worth the splurge as a special gift to a friend (that can appreciate it in more of an enclosed space).

I'll check out Santa Maria Novella if I can find a stockist in Toronto. I'm still waiting to see how long it will take for me to pull the trigger on a bottle of Cire Trudon Nazareth room spray...

Cire Trudon Nazareth sounds nice - especially as the holidays approach. I bought a couple of their candles on sale, and both were beautiful.
    Yep, a slippery slope...
This place is in the Rosedale area, but perhaps you can find it for less online elsewhere:

I just read where someone put the older remains in their car, which is a great idea. I keep mine in a mortar and pestle, and grind it up more when it starts drying out.
Herbal, almost medicinal, ancient. Unlike anything I've ever smelled.

Thanks for this! That's a ten minute walk from my place and I had no idea it existed.
