O.K. I was about to put on Le Baiser du Dragon for the Friday Synch but
then my sample of Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme arrived in the morning post
and I was eager to try it.
Here are my initial thoughts. TFNPF reminds me a little of Molinard's Habanita in that it starts
off quite harsh with a smoky/masculine opening. Like Habanita you have to wait for the magic to
begin and after 20 minutes or so it does. A creamy, dessert-like aroma emerges from the skin and
is quite delectable, chewy almost! At this point I begin to see the attraction whereas at the start I
wondered what all the fuss was about.
I was intrigued to discover that Habanita (the new 2012 EDP) and Noir Pour Femme have lentisque (or mastic) as a note in common
as well as the more obvious vanilla. I don't feel as if this scent is projecting very much but I shall wait to see if
it gets any notice or comments. I suspect my ageing nose is becoming less sensitive or maybe it is slightly
blocked, because I was expecting something with more of a heft to it such as Black Orchid.
So far I am mildly impressed but not bowled over.
