Thread: YSL L'Homme vs Boss Bottled vs ?
I am looking for a new cologne, something not aggressive, for daytime use, very pleasant and with decent to good longevity.
I tested some popular colognes:
YSL L'Homme - this is perfect scent for me, but I heard it does not last at all.
Boss bottled - very nice, but does not last
YSL La nuit - I have this and love it, but it's more for dates
Versace Pour Homme - I have this one
Didn't like at all:
Dior Homme Intense - seriously smells horrible to me, not sure why is it considered so good.
Terre d'Hermes Hermes - way too hard for me, feels like cologne for old man.
So now that I said what I like, do you guys know something similar to those?
Both Boss Bottled and YSL l'homme are very pleasant to me, but Boss Bottled costs 40% less, which is very important to me.
P.s. I'll be buying YSL La Nuit as my evening scent, so perhaps it would be good to have YSL l'homme for daytime? Just afraid it may last 30 minutes.

Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve other Basenoters' acknowledgement or respect.
YSL L'Homme may indeed work effortlessly and, if for some reason unavailable, would at least consider giving Gucci pour Homme II and even the apparently summery, but quite all year versatile Allure Homme Edition Blanche a try for daytime wear
l'homme > boss bottled
I'd say get L'Homme first, then BB. They're both now mainstays for me and different enough to own both.
Own and love both but reach for the YSL more often.
Although love Boss Bottled too, YSL La Nuit is my choice.
While I consider L'Homme and it's flankers some of the worst smelling compositions on the market, that is just me. It sounds like they are favs of yours and if so, then it looks like you have your winner.

It is funny what you say about TdH, many say it smells like womens' perfume.
Beauty is the disinterested one, without which the ancient world refused to understand itself, a word which both imperceptibly and yet unmistakably has bid farewell to our new world, a world of interests, leaving it to its own avarice and sadness.

Im not sure im following you as in the first paragraph you say you have la nuit and later you say you are going to buy it. Between boss bottled and l'homme I would choose l'homme. The performance is spotty. Some days it seems to last forever. Other days it seems like its a couple hours and gone. But IMHO it smells good enough that I deal with it. And after a few wears you will generally get an idea of when and where it will work best.
If you are one of those people who insist on paying full retail......Please check out my for sale thread.
None would be on my list but if i had to choose i would go with L' Homme
YSL L'Homme is a nice fragrance but performance is abysmal - you may aswell not bother applying fragrance after 1 hour.
I'd recommend the standard Dior Homme over YSL L'Homme.
He even said: Dior Homme Intense - seriously smells horrible to me, not sure why is it considered so good.
OP, high chances you are not going to like Dior Homme, so stick with your nose and go with YSL L´Homme
Solution sounds simple to me: buy Boss Bottled Intense.
That one lasts and smells better than the original (imo).

Alright guys, ordered YSL L'homme as well as La Nuit. Already arrived and really like the smell of l'homme! And regarding longevity, well, all colognes I used do not last on me. Probably it's my skin, but after 1-2 hours it's always just skin scent left. Thank you guys
