I haven't kept up with 2015 releases but Carven Pour Homme impressed me. Royal Mayfair is great too, but I value it at <$200 - not $500.

I was not in the mood for scents this year in general, but in the ones I've smelled my favorite ones came from houses I wasn't expecting anything, especially in the case of JPG which I had yet to find one fragrance I enjoy, much less love.

    1 JPG Ultra Male

2 Spicebomb Extreme Surprised especially that I don't enjoy the original. But once again a flanker that has very few to do with the original one.
3 Acqua Essenziale Colonia by Ferragamo Great one to try for the fans of "barbershop" ones but also looking for young, up-to-date scents.

I also have to say that I have yet to try ones that I'm expecting a LOT from since they come from my favorite houses:

    Guerlain HR Dress Code
    Tom Ford Noir Extreme
    Amouage Sunshine
Hermes B.A. Vetiver and Equipage Geranium
    Lalique Encre Noire à l'Extreme

I havent really tried many niche that came out this year. But by far my favorite designer of the year is perry ellis (yeah you read that right) Black vanilla absolute. Its from their new OUD line. I really dont get even a hint of oud out of it but I have limited experience with the note. But If you look past that (as a fan of creed im used to a little BS sprinkled here and there) its just a killer scent. It is very similar to Spiritueuese Double Vanille but dare i say I like the perry ellis better. I was seriously on the fence about buying a bottle of SDV at full retail having given up on finding a deal and this stuff completely alleviated my desire for it. Im not saying the perry ellis is a "better" fragrance. Im simply saying I like it better and it fits my needs better.

Of the new ones I tried this year, in order:

    1. Cologne Indelible--best "traditional" EDC I've ever tried
    2. Acqua Essenziale Colonia--really good and affordable
    3. Dunhill Icon--I liked the way it smelled, I just didn't get any longevity out of it. Too discrete for me, but very good.

Need to smell Ultra Male, Royal Mayfair, Dress Code, Equipage Geranium and a few others.

I hear this comment about bad fragrance year every year. What do you guys expect from one single fragrance year? They've been making commercial fragrances for some 220 years and more than 120 years very seriously. Most years aren't great.
