Question Captain Molyneux - Has This Been Re-released ???

I've seen internet offerings of this iconic fragrance, but looking very different from the original bottle design and colour of juice !
This juice is a hideous ink blue colour and the bottle is straight/ ribbed.
It looks very "made in China"/ cheap and horrible.
Has anyone tried this ?...dare I ask.

I think it must have been re-released. Haven't seen this version in my area yet. Have the original shaped dark blue bottle. Very nice scent.

It is only called Captain Molyneux. It smells nothing like the original oakmoss driven perfume. This one is terrible!

^^^ Came to say the same...Original is one of the strongest oakmoss scents, along with a very deep patchouli tobacco mossy base (& some sandalwood too).

Thanks. I know and love the original. It was one of my first bought fragrances.

Why are all these houses doing this now ? !!! Don't they have enough self confidence and imagination when creating a new fragrance....to give it a new name ?
Gutless - and bordering on fraudulent behaviour.

    Hey now.

One of my pisser moments was my experience with the clear bottles / blue juice iteration of Molyneux Captain (looks like this) notoriously sold in cologne & a/s tandems:
    captain.jpg

I'm in total agreement with shamu1's review...synthetic garbage to the maximum! In my best Slingblade voice, "They aughtened of continued making this stuff".

I had an opportunity to go vintage with this vintage 1oz iteration and did so:

So much better. I'll leave it at that.

For those in the know... what do you know about the following vintage iterations and has anyone checked out the new edp version pictured last?

That's the first I've seen of the EDP in the square bottle. Any idea who is carrying that version?

Glad I stocked up on vintage, like Paco PH vintage this is another one that should have never been reformulated/rereleased. I haven't run across a single good reformulation of an oakmoss heavy fragrance.
