I confess that I almost surely have the worst "presentation" of a collection of anyone on Basenotes. All my bottles sit inside a couple of giant cardboard boxes on two-shelf end table in a small hallway near the bathroom. Every single day when it's time to pick a scent, I open up one of the boxes and stare down at the tops of all my fragrances while deciding what to wear. I got into the habit of keeping stuff in boxes when I first started expanding my collection, and read about how keeping stuff out of the light was good for the longevity of the fragrance. It definitely looks awful though!

I confess that I am on the hunt for vintage Guerlain and it is addictive
I confess that my love of the niche fragrances that I own is fading in favor of vintage frags
I confess that I spent more on fragrances in the past two weeks than I did for the LV bag and wallet that I bought my wife for Christmas
I confess that I tossed a full 100ml bottle of Gucci Pour Homme 1 in the trash that I purchased from Sephora when I first got into fragrances. It smelled like pencil shavings and it made me nauseous.
I must confess that I swapped a full bottle of MDCI Chypre Palatin that I purchased the same month of release, for a bottle of Green Irish Tweed that was very likely purchased from a discounter.
I must confess that I gave away about $1200 in fragrances in the giveaway thread three years ago because I didn't fully read the rules for the marketplace for new members

    Confession.... Confess what??

Until recently Ive had a hard time spraying my expensive ish stuff. ( never spent more than $60 on a bottle my whole life till maybe 6 months ago. )

If I wanted to smell the expensive isher stuff I would just smell the atomizer... then reach for a hugo, Polo or tommy etc.

I also confess, I honestly thought becoming a splitter was going to be a fun thing to do.. I blind bought so many bottles it was ridiculous. Ended up selling most the bottles soon after..

I sometimes get envious of the people here with lots of perfumes. Not necessarily Roja Dove priced perfumes but top tier Guerlain's and Dior's and many of the 'must haves' for a well rounded collection.

If I curtailed certain habits, which I'm preparing to do soon, I'll have much more money to spend on fragrance. So this envy is something I can take steps to reduce! Just a confession of the darker side of human nature. It would be wonderful if I could find a local perfumista who I gelled with whose collection I could sniff vicariously. Some of these perfumes talked about here every day I would love to smell but I can't afford so many sample. Some fragrances I might want to smell just because and not necessarily to wear them.

    Anyhow. Dat's the trewf.
It is true that fish stink. It is also true that the river is
beautiful. But the river would be beautiful despite the fish. What
    is noxious remains so.

That is not to say that sh*t is not useful when buried in the wheat
field. Bread made from the field tastes sweet, wine from the arbor
sweetest. All things serve a purpose, but that is no reason to
glorify what is abominable. A man must still watch where he walks
    and keep his sandals clean.

I'm addicted to the habit of leeching frag shelves in the old small dirty shops hoping that i will find some patou pour homme or vintage guerlain or givenchy to the extent that i became very well known watching customer to the shop keepers. again once i made a huge mistake by letting one of the civilian shopkeepers to come into a military hospital in a dangerous wartime area in saudi arabia to consult a college - he is not allowed to be managed inside this hospital- where i work as a radiologist so he can help me find what i want and the hospital's military police was about to arrest him for that.

I've tried to like Habit Rouge, but I simply can't. Unlike Vetiver, it smells too dated to my nose.

I've always tried to keep my buys under a certain price limit, 50-70$. After falling in love with Santal 33, that was gone.

    I hate Millesime Imperial.

    Couple of them :
    1) I have hidden from my wife --how much I have spent on buying perfumes + samples in the past 6 months since the time I acquired this hobby and joined BN....if she gets to see my bank statements , all hell will break loose !
    2) I am envious of all the veteran noses who have huge collections and are miles and light years ahead of me in all this....& here I am who is just scratching the surface
    3) suddenly I have realised after joining BN , how little budget I have for fragrances with all the other financial commitments I have....and its not a happy feeling ...trust me...

23 isn't late. I was 35 before I knew niche fragrances ever existed.

Right, a confession. I guess, even though I now like them a lot, when I first smelt Guerlain Vetiver and Givenchy Gentleman I recoiled, they smelt like three year old landfill.

I keep mine in one of those storage boxes that roll under the bed, and do the same as you, work out what is what from the caps. I don't want to display mine, I want them to last.

I confess I just had to re-buy Theorema because I was stupid enough to sell my bottle a couple of years ago.

I'm also considering blind buying MFK Ciel de Gum and trying daily to talk myself out of it.

Confess to making more returns this month than I ever have in my life and they were all John variations. I simply was mesmerized by the top notes, purchased and then regretted the dry down. Luckily I've found what I'm after amd consider myself almost complete ..

I didn’t start using fragrances until I was 28. Only used small amounts of deodorant until then.

Once when I was out dancing at about 22 years old, a girl I danced with asked what perfume I was wearing. After relying “nothing” she was really surprised and said I smelled really good.

A girlfriend I had when I was about 20 had a natural skin scent very similar to strawberries. She was 16 at the time and I could not stop smelling her.

I’m the only one in my family that enjoys perfume.

I confess that just right after I buy a perfume (always I have to choose between two of my top wanted) I instantly regret it and I think I should have bought the other one. But deep down I know that even if I had bought that other one, I would have the same feelings.

Whenever I'm on a business trip I spend a powerful amount of time trying to figure out how I can ditch my clients and co-workers so I can indulge in a little fragrance shopping. I've scored some of my best finds this way. After my covert shopping sprees I usually rush back to the hotel and take a quick shower so no one catches me smelling like me all the nice new fragrances I sampled.
