Default Dior Sauvage Vs. Dior Homme Eau For Men

I was curious as to which Dior scent you prefer and why?

Personally it's a very hard choice between these two, since I like neither.

Sauvage, ignoring its screechy qualities, is perhaps a marginally better composition.

But not at all a fan of either.
Looking to swap for Bois du Portugal (5-10 ml).
Have Green Irish Tweed, Silver Mountain Water, Vetiver Extraordinaire, Incense Oud, Tobacco Oud and others.

Eau for Men is, personally speaking, one of my favorite Dior Homme flankers, smooth, light and yet quite complex for a comparatively "young" and sportier fragrance.

Also never been particularly keen on Sauvage, in spite of being a fragrance quite well-made, even pleasant, decent and clean to my nose, never managed to be more than indifferent about it (so far).

In retrospect, Dior Homme Eau was, in my opinion, the beginning of a trio of mediocre releases for Dior. And by that I don't mean bad releases, just nothing special. Eau Sauvage Cologne followed and Sauvage completes the trio. I suggest you avoid all 3.

Of the two, the former would be my preferred as it smells better to me although I like them both.

Sauvage. I'll never buy it, but from my tests, it is a great performer and a crowd pleaser.

I've only sampled them, but thought they smelled quite similar. Almost as if Dior Homme Eau was a dry run for Sauvage

Interesting. I don't get that at all. There's no iris note in Sauvage.

Sauvage by far. It's a very easy to wear, yet also interesting composition.

Homme Eau smells to me like a cheap Mont Blanc Legend copy.

I would take eau. To me its a more complete fragrance. Something about sauvage really bothers me.

I've only sampled Eau once, but liked it quite a bit. On the other hand, I've worn Sauvage quite a few times and don't really care it. Not horrible, but not something I enjoy wearing either.....which is pretty much my take on BdC as well, only that one at least gets me compliments so I keep it around

I enjoyed Eau when I owned a bottle and wore it quite a bit. The dry down smells a bit too familiar, but it's not a bad fragrance. Sauvage is straight up awful.

DHE, no question. It has a standard woody drydown, but the iris really does linger pretty much the entire duration of a wearing, so things stay interesting.

Sauvage has a pleasant enough opening, but the drydown on my skin is really a harsh synthetic travesty, quite unpleasant.

And a cheap Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce copy. Made me think of this (poor Mont Blanc) from the movie Office Space:

Sauvage, as Eau is far too light on me, but I own neither.

Sauvage on my skin is beast mode in terms of sillage, longevity and projection same with Aventus. My skin react better on the ambergris of aventus and ambroxan (synthetic version of ambergris) of Sauvage. Dior Homme Eau have a nice scent of iris but on my skin it last only for 1-2 hours and become a skin scent.
