Default Noir Epices = Coco Chanel?

I am quite surprised that no one in the forum has brought up the striking similarity between Malle's Noir Epices and the original Coco Chanel. To me they have exactly the same spicy DNA (which I love, mind me) and at some points in their development it is hard for me to tell them apart. The only difference I see is that in the Malle we have an orange amongst all the spices, whereas in Coco we have some jasmine, but other than that they are twins to me (although I concede that one can tell upon inspection that Malle is the boy, and Coco is the girl).

Does anyone else feel the same way about these two?

I don't smell the similarity myself.

Can't speak to the Chanel, but I sure do love Noir Epices. - one of my favorite Malles.

I concur. Coco Chanel was my signature perfume for quite some time and when I smelled Noir Epices it striked me as a masculine reinterpretation of Coco, a tad less sweet and with an orange. Despite the (to me obvious) similarity, I got a bottle because I really really liked it: this is what I feel that Coco Noir (or a hypothetical Coco for men) should have smelled like, and not that crap they released a few years ago.

Personally I find only a little similarity - in the use of spices. Noir Epices has an overdose of black pepper which is not there in Coco. Also, the orange note is not there. I think the similarity could be in the use of rose and cloves. Also, Noir Epices doesn't have any of the ambery elements.

Coco comes across as a smoother fragrance. Noir Epices is darker.

Very different to me, but I'll look for a connection next time. I'm a bit of a Noir Epices naysayer, though, and Coco is a favorite, so it will be hard to find similarities, but I'll try.
