Kind of odd seeing Tom Ford introduce nominee Alan Cumming tonight at the Golden Globes...

I'm actually not too suprised as Tom Ford is an iconic American fashion designer, he's also involved in films as well, i think he directed one film and was in one but i can't remember. I think he's tied to Hollywood one way or another.

He directed "A Single Man" whose main actor Colin Firth was nominated for A Golden Globe in 2010, so not strange at all IMO.

Ah yes! Thank you! Definitely will watch that movie if I get a chance. Colin Firth is a great actor.

Yea, nothing odd about this. His film is great. I wish he'd make another.

Agree with hednic not odd since TF made a movie. Plus these actresses and actors beg him to design clothes for them to events like this.

I was happy to see Tom Ford on the show although his speaking role was extremely limited. Lady Gaga impresses me more each time I see her. She was well-spoken and genuine, not to mention drop-dead gorgeous.

Surely Tom Ford is a designer anyway, not an actual perfumer?

Second Movie is coming. It's called Nocturnal Animals and starring Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Designer and an actor. While nice to see them, they are not perfumers. :-)

The definition is someone who makes or sells perfumes, which is what Tom Ford does, among many other things.

The odd thing was Tom Ford nominating AlanCumming, who also has several well-regarded fragrances, not just celebrity scents with his name attached, as happens with Miss Gaga.

I was thinking more of a blonde Sophia Loren.
It is true that fish stink. It is also true that the river is
beautiful. But the river would be beautiful despite the fish. What
    is noxious remains so.

That is not to say that sh*t is not useful when buried in the wheat
field. Bread made from the field tastes sweet, wine from the arbor
sweetest. All things serve a purpose, but that is no reason to
glorify what is abominable. A man must still watch where he walks
    and keep his sandals clean.

Yes, that is indeed interesting, could be pure coincidence. I have to say that Cumming the fragrance was actually quite good.

Gervais didn't let up, right until the end of the show. Good on him.

No, a perfumer is someone who composes perfumes. lf you look up his perfumes in the directory, you will see that the perfumer is listed as someone quite different.

The broader definition is something else, as you'd see in any dictionary, which is how it was used, rather than the specific creative person or persons involved in making the product.

    perfumer

    (pluralperfumers)

    1. 1.A person who creates new perfumes.
    2. 2. A person who makes or sells perfume.
