I just tried the original Alfred Dunhill (1934) yesterday while on patrol and I instantly felt like I was Elliot Ness. That stuff is film noir in a bottle.

Also got a bottle of vintage Canoe (1936). It's funny what just a few years make. So much more vanilla and sweetness. I can see why this broke ground and became "Alpha Fougere" for so long. It was probably more approachable than anything else, more "generalist", the Acqua di Gio of it's era. Even Old Spice is arguably less approachable than this, despite it's oddly greater ubiquity. I guess the price was nice since Canoe was always an import here in the states until the original Dana crashed and burned.

1994 Vintage EDT from sample, kindly offered, from a good friend. What a scent!!!

Vintage 90's in both EDP and EDT are superb! Sweet almond and candied Rose. This noses nicely on the Girls too!!

Still waiting to get my bottles of Vetiver and Habit Rouge from Guerlain. Jicky and the old colognes I'm on the fence about but I'd likely try Jicky over thecolognes because it would have more staying power. All the old-world EDC's are a hair's breadth above aftershave in strength (also read 30 minutes and skin scent time).

Not sure what year it's from (it's an old mini), but the juice is very dark. It's glorious.

Hi Epapsiou. This is a decant of extrait recently received from a dear friend. My experience with Tabac Blond extrait goes back only to 2004 when I owned half an ounce of the stuff. Whatever the age of this version, it smells as Tabac Blond always has to me: more about leather than tobacco. It's dry, bitter-rubbery, almost like lapsang souchong. A smoky vanilla eventually emerges giving the barest hint of sweetness. All on the dark Mousse de Saxe base. In a word, it's glorious.

Sorry, if that seemed tinged with a criticism. Absolutely wear what you like; A smell is a smell.

I was just trying to get a handle on which bottle shape was which. I had been looking at these last week and wondered which would be better of the two.
