My SOTD...ladies and genitlemen, I present (after years of hunting it down) the Aramis Super Cologne!
Yessir, 2oz/60ml of hunk o' burnin' love kick-in-the-teeth-masculine 1970s-Burt-Reynolds-in-a-tight-Elvis-denim-jumpsuit golden juice....well, you get my point. Everything is beefed up in this - the leather, animalics, the woods n' the greens. Very masculine and very potent, yet smooth and elegantly blended. Basically just a super concentrated cologne, but very special to me (my dad wore this, meeting my mom) and well worth the wait. Especially for the price of 24$ (just over 20€). A flawless atomizer as well. Well, enough ranting.
Saving this precious juice, I'm 'touching up' with regular 35 yrs old Aramis splash decanted into a current spray-bottle. IMG_0956.jpgIMG_0955.jpg

There are just some days where you don't want to over-think or be challenging in your choice of scent, don't want to smell like "a million bucks" with some niche fragrance, but also don't want to smell like everyone else. This is a good way to accomplish that task.

This is the first time I've ever posted this in vintage, because I only realized today that it actually is vintage now. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure, because while I love the scent (a woodier, sweeter, green floral in the vein of Chanel 19, it performs beautifully in high heat), its whole ethos and marketing campaign was one of the most egregious attempts by Ralph Lauren to evoke one of his fantasy historical dreams of the Landed Gentry.

My bottle is a 125ml cologne splash (Cosmair label) with a crystal stopper, probably from near the time of its creation in 1989/90, judging by the generous moss in its base.

Poor Safari. An excellent fragrance with a tainted heritage.

Top notes: Mandarin Galbanum Hyacinth Aldehydes
Heart notes: Lily of the valley Rose Iris Narcissus
    Base notes: Vetiver Moss
