I'd been meaning to give Vol de Nuit another go. All the talk about it recently was the nudge I needed.
    This one is from 1987.

After a couple of hours I started getting a fruit note in the extrait that I didn't remember detecting before. Kind of grape-y. In a good way.

Interesting. I'll be looking for it. I only put on a tiny bit. Good thing, too, because I have a doctor's appointment in a few minutes.

There are a few pretty good articles on the web, and a couple good threads which can steer someone in the right direction, if they’re interested in Russian leathers. I would say that some old school Russian leather styled fragrances can be acquired for prices low enough to give a few a shot. And there are a couple threads here that give names to look into to see if you find something interesting, like this one http://www.basenotes.net/threads/370...-not-the-usual
Thanks for the link. Some great looking old bottles are shown in that thread. I probably won't pursue one for myself, but it's an interesting topic just the same.
I've smelled a number of highly regarded leather fragrances. With most of them, it's like I have a mental block and just can't find the leather! Oh well.

This is a cute marketing idea, even though I've never heard of the scent. Would have been even cuter if they had made the bottle an actual polyhedron, like a soccer ball. Surely somebody has done that?

    Shiseido Vintage (1975)

I bought this thinking it would be a fougčre, but it's more of a citrus chypre.
It's pretty decent. This bottle *may* date to the '80s, probably no later than '90s.

Crazy hot here again: 100F/38C. Edmond, take me away.

    Eau Fraiche - Dior (1953) - a 1980s bottling?
Clearly an ancestor of Eau Sauvage and Diorella

And I just saw this little oddity on Etsy -- apparently the same juice was sold in the U.S.A. at one time with the name "Eau de Cologne Aux Fleurs Fraiches". First time I've seen this little guy.

    Good one.
Is that your bottle? The "eau de cologne fraiche" naming caught my eye, so I checked my bottle. It says "eau fraiche de Christian Dior" and looks to date to 1979. Yours might be older than that. I wasn't aware the fragrance was marketed under different names.
