from a Bavardecant: original Armani EDT (1982)

Olympian levels of green florals and oakmoss. Thick and sheer at the same time, like see-through velvet.

These single-name original designer scents are so frustrating to hunt for, like the original "Lauren" by Ralph Lauren. There's almost no amount of Boolean logic you can apply to your search terms that weed out all the dreck that their houses have subsequently produced.

Always loved the bottle and cap. Beautiful design, and that colour is just delicious. Never tried it, though. How does it carry itself?

It’s decent. It opens like something else I know well. Sung Homme? I’ll have to compare. But then dries down a bit different. I’ll need more time with it. Even though I wasn’t blown away by it, it is a good fragrance and I think it would work really well in the heat.

It's like a fanboy of Jacques Guerlain decanted a half-dozen different 80's classics and stirred them together with a pinch of extra amber and vanilla because he read that Jacques used to use complete fragrances he made as the base for new ones. There's too much going and although this works as a fragrance, I'd rather have most of the ideas it features separated back into their respective sources.

It's Bowling Green meets Boss Number One meets Maxim's Pour Homme meets JHL meets Zino Davidoff meets Racquets Clubs with touches of Canoe in a martini shaker. Take all that and dial the animalics back, then add tonka to the void. Making Shepard's Pie is fun, but not out of powerhouse masculines.

It's great in the heat. I liked it alot when I got it weeks ago, but now I love it. Citrusy and warmth from the cinnamon with green notes and moss.

Gérard Anthony and Ilias Ermenidis worked on it. I feel there may have been compromises in style or direction. It's the reason so many CKs are weird: too many perfumers who have different approaches.

Going with Palais Jamais by ETRO. IsoE introduced me to this I think. Love the way it is constructed. Somehow the jasmine kills vetiver's green bite and vetiver destroys jasmine's skank. Or perhaps they mask it. In any case just superb.
The vintage bottle had an apt tagline - Tea in the garden of Allah.
