Default Plum, plum, plum, plum, plum, fruits and plum!

Confession: I like plum notes and fruit notes.

I have collected fragrances for years and my taste tends to go to incense, oud and woody notes, but I have realized that many of my "go to" scents have a plum note or other fruity note. There is a tendancy for fruity notes to come off as candy-like but I really do not like overly sweet scents in general. But looking through my wardrobe and what I reach for, I come to the conclusion that fruity notes are preferred over floral notes. Examples below...

    Andy Warhol (plum)
Aoud 1 (apple, plum and peach)
    Aventus (pineapple)
    Black Orchid (black current)
Blu Mediterraneo Fico di Amalfi (fig)
    Bullion (black plum)
    Coccobello (coconut)
    Coney Island (melon and guava)
    Dark Purple (plum)
    Hanae Mori H.M. (black current)
I Love NY for Marriage Equality (plum)
    Jubilation XXV (blackberry)
    New York Oud (red plum)
    Pear + Olive (pear)
    Plum Japonaise (plum)
Pulp (black current, fig and red apple)
    Philosycos (fig)
    Russian Tea (raspberry)
The Scent of Peace for Him (pineapple and black current)
    Zahd (cranberry, plum and cherry)

Do you have a favorite fruit note? Please share your thoughts.

I love these fruity notes too and you have some great examples listed already. You have a fabulous wardrobe and I feel funny recommending anything to you but some favorites that come to mind are:

Dunhill Desire for men (Red): Sweet red apple, cumin, musk and vanilla
Jacomo for men (aka Silver): Sweet pineapple and plum with warm spice, amber and woody notes.
YSL Opium Pour Homme (EDT): Black current, star anise, spices, resinous notes, vanilla

    and you already have
Hanae Mori HM (EDT): Black current and sweet lemon among others

Good suggestions, and I will sample, for sure.

I left many off the list with citrus notes, but TdH with it rotton orange note gets a lot of love from me too.

Apart from the obvious citrus fruit variations (a personal wardrobe staple since the very start of this hobby), always liked how pineapple was rendered in various fragrances, including, but not limited to: Boss Bottled, Joop Nightflight, Lapidus pour Homme, One Man Show Gold Edition.

Yes I agree about citrus. Citrus are fruit too but more common. Mixed, exotic and tropical fruit make some fragrances really special to me.

If I remember correctly I think I got sort of a plum note from Olfactive Studios Chambre Noire. Its been quite a while since I smelled it though. So perhaps someone else could give their input. I found it to be a quite pleasant fragrance.

    I would like to add:

    SL Boxeuses
    HDP 1889 Moulin Rouge

    Both are leathery plum.

I love plum notes too! I like the plum + incense of Andy Warhol, but I also like plum with added wood OR leather notes.

Some of my favorite plum scents:
    SL Boxeuses
    Atelier Gold Leather
    Olfactive Studio Ombre Indigo
    By Kilian Liaisons Dangereuses
    Carner Barcelona Tardes
Cuiron (this is more about the leather, but the plum is there)
Bond Success Is A Job In NY (patchouli instead of my other favorite plum partners)
    I've trademarked the color bleu

I'm a big fan of fruit notes in fragrances. I'm leaving off lemons and limes and bergamot unless it's exceptionally fruity bergamot. Some that I like you've already mentioned (like Zahd and Philosykos). Some of my other favorites include:

Bat by Zoologist: Banana, something like peach, tropical fruits

Bahiana: Coconut, sweet mandarin orange, and some green fruity note I can't identity

Wild Fruits: Most noticeably tart black currants and in the drydown, peach

Cedre Atlas: Apricot, bergamot, maybe some apple

    Cedrat Boise: apples and currants

Passion Boisee: Tangerine bright and juicy (over leather, oak and rum...very nice)

Eau de Lacoste Blanc (L.12): Tropical fruits, almost milky with ylang yang and tuberose. Underrated.

New Musk Man: Plum (though it smells like apple to me)

    Reveal Men: Agave, Melon, Pear

Wave Musk: Currants: Currants are interesting because sometimes they can be dry and tart, other times sweet and watery. Here they're sweet and watery, and Wave Musk has a very tropical, aquatic feel.

Kiste: Peach. I love it until it all collapses into a candle shop potpourri showcase, which is about half an hour in...so I guess I don't love it. But I love that peach!

Phoenix (Keith Urban): Blackberries (over chocolate and suede...this stuff rocks. Thank you, Bigsly).

Scent of Peace for Him: Pineapple and something like fruit punch.

Pomelo Paradis: Grapefruit, juicy red grapefruit

    Moschino Forever: Kumquat

    Bleecker Street: Blueberries

Fruity notes and floral notes can both be a bit tricky for me as they can tend to dominate a fragrance and generally aren't my favorite accords in this context, but one fragrance I really enjoy is Tom Ford Extreme with the mix of slightly boozy plum and fig with woods and some smoky leather. Although I favor this fragrance in cooler weather, I've worn it a few times when it' been slightly warmer, and it really highlights the sweet accord of the fruits.

Akahina I tend to agree with you on fragrances like Terre D'Hermes or Aventus where the fruity accords are balanced out with something more smoky or woody as I generally stray away from fragrances that are too sweet, too.

Not too many fruit notes that I don't like, but plum is certainly one of my favorites also.

Brückner Aoud 1 is at the top of that list.

    John Varvatos - John Varvatos
    OlfactiveStudio - Ombre Indigo
    AJ Arabia - II
    TomFord Plum Japonais
BondNo. 9 - I Love New York For Marriage Equality
    Current Spring Favorites:

    1. Creed - Spice & Wood
    2. by Kilian - Straight to Heaven
    3. Dior - Vetiver
    4. Clive Christian - 1872 for Men
    5. Tom Ford - Rive d’Ambre
    6. Ermenegildo Zegna - Javanese Patchouli

Most of my favorite fragrances have a nice fruit accord to contrast a wood, regardless of strength. I completely enjoyed Fico di Amalfi all day today. Yesterday was TdH Eau Tres Fraiche. I saw my Nightflight bottle earlier though and thought I may wear that tomorrow. So many I love, and even so many more I've never smelled. Thanks for this thread!

Costume National Homme has a very nice and spicy simulated plum, most likely achieved combining the fruity aspects of the citruses, with the jammy/plummy aspects of the labdanum. A personal favourite!

Michael Kors Michael (2001.) definitely plum-ish.
    Amouage Silver Cologne
Boss Bottled - albeit woody spicy, I do recognize the plum note in it
Christian Lacroix Tumult - rather prominent plum note

On one of the more popular and highly regarded (rightfully so, from a personal viewpoint) fragrance blogs more or less regularly followed, quoted and read here on BN, it is claimed that even Knize Ten has a marginally plummy note to it.

While not fully convinced about this claim, the powdery, sweet and even slightly boozy hints of this fragrance may perhaps suggest a slight plum note, depending on certain variables during the actual scent wear, as well as the combined effect of certain top, mid and base notes development over time.

Tom Ford - Plum Japonais - the most fruity of the bunch - it's just plain delicious, almost edible - and my favorite plum fragrance.

Bond No. 9 - I Love New York For Marriage Equality - spicy/incensy plum on a woody base. Great!

John Varvatos - (the original) John Varvatos - nice ripe plum on black leather jacket.

Miller Harris - La Fumee Maroc - dried plum and woody incense.

Atelier Cologne - Vetiver Fatal - not my favorite, but it has a plummy, cotton-candy, Spicebomb kind of feel to it.

Atelier Cologne - Gold Leather - again, not my favorite (I just may not be clicking with Atelier Cologne in general) - boozy, leathery plum, with oud/woody base sprinkled with brighter orange notes and a pinch of saffron.

Montale Dark Purple - very potent mix of plum and rose.

I can (and do) wear the first three quite a bit. The others I'm indifferent to, they just didn't click with me.
