From the two in your thread question - Coromandel

I like both and think they are good. Coromandel is a smooth, elegant patchouli. Jubilation XXV is a radiant incense.

But if you personally think that they are overpriced, there's no point in you getting them. If you want a frankincense, CDG incense series (like Avignon) are good and cheaper, if a bit sharper. For patchouli, there are other less expensive patchoulis, although not as smooth as Coromandel.

Saying it must be something phenomenal tells us nothing since we have no way of knowing what will smell phenomenal to you. We could recommend our favorites, but the thread would be miles long with nothing helpful since it would be random recommendations. Want a few? Interlude Man. Reflection Man. L'Air du Desert Marocain. Royal Oud. Etc etc etc.

Only you can know what you think smells amazing. And only you can know what fits your style.

Make sure you try them on your own skin. I got poor performance from Jubilation XXV. I think it smells great, but it didn't last long enough for me, and it wore so close to the skin that I lost track of it after a half hour or so. Coromandel is excellent, but it's not quite masculine enough for me, and it projects way too much for my tastes. It's amazing, but wow is it loud. It's downright flamboyant.

Have you tried Black Orchid? Black Orchid smells very different, but it falls into a similar space for me in that it's dark, loud and sexy... but, like Coromandel, it's a bit too loud for my tastes... but it's excellent.

That's just marketing. Coromandel is unisex. But if you think it's feminine, why are you considering it?

My advice would be to figure out what smells amazing to you & buy that.

From the 2 of post, I'd pick Coromandel.
For me, Frederic Malle fragrances are fully justifying the prices (there are many other houses as well).
After looking at your wardrobe, I'd suggest you to check Frederic Malle line.

I prefer Jubilation XXV between those two. Coromandel is a good fragrance, but for some reason I don't like the scent profile / how it smells.

Since you find both overpriced, doesn't make sense to spend money on any of those.

A few suggestions for sampling -

'straightforward incense' - Sahara Noir, Full Incense, Avignon & others from CdG Incense series.

'incense as a prominent note, but not only incense' - Opium, Memoir Man, Interlude Man, Bois d'Ascese, Fille en Aiguilles, Eau des Baux

'straightforward patchouli' - Mazzolari, Profumum (but many other less expensive alternatives will probably suffice)

'patchouli as a prominent note, but not only patchouli' - Nicolai Patchouli Intense, Givenchy Gentleman, Mazzolari Lui, Javanese Patchouli, Black Aoud, Black Orchid (many others)

'patchouli and incense' - Portrait of a Lady

FWIW, Jubilation XXV performs fairly well on my skin (not very tenacious, but not fleeting either)

    Happy sniffing!

    Vintage Jubilation XXV > Coromandel
    Coromandel > current Jubilation XXV

Coromandel is a patchouli scent that reminds me of white chocolate. For a more masculine and wearable alternative, try Pardon by Nasomatto, which has a milk chocolate vibe and is similarly based around patchouli.

Other than Pardon, there are many great fragrances on the market. This is just the one that I find the most similar in vibe.

Also, the above recommendation of Trayee by Neela Vermeire is a great one. I find it similar to Jubilation XXV in vibe, but (no one shoot me for this) Trayee smells much more appealing and higher quality to my nose.
