Question Do you have a signature scent?

    If so, what is it?

For myself, It's Comme Des Garcon's 2 (edp).

Curious to see what some of you say.

I have a signature as in there's one scent that I'll always have that I feel embodies me as a person. Not something I wear daily or anything, just one I feel is a complete representation of me and how I feel. I also feel it can be used in every season, every situation.

    Great. That's the point!
Out of the hundreds of my scents, I'm rotating about 40 regularly. Most of them are woody-oriental, fougère and musk types, often patchouli-focused. I love a certain simplicity.

No, and I don't do a Steve Jobs and wear the same clothes all the time. That'd be weird for both clothes and fragrances.

I once chased the idea of a signature scent. I think there would be a better chance of finding the Loch Ness monster.

Of course not. This is Basenotes. This is the directions these threads always go. Just as common are the threads titles "Looking for a Signature Scent" or something similar. Sorry buddy, you've come to the wrong place. Look forward to your contributions in a few months when your collection has suddenly ballooned out to a dozen or more full bottles.

There was a brief period when 2 Man by CdG and Tam Dao EdT would almost have qualified as signature scents, but that was a number of years ago and my collection is not particularly big by Basenotes standards and I haven't been into fragrances for that long either.

Probably not, but years ago I gave up the search for a "signature scent" as I'm sure most of us did. What I realized is that my choices in fragrance changes with my mood, weather, season, occasion, etc, etc. I also learned that the man makes the scent, not the other way around. If you feel great and confident when wearing a certain scent then that's your signature fragrance. I just happen to have around 25 or so and growing ;-)

I don't think there's one scent that could cover every mood, season or occasion for me, so I decided to just enjoy the vast world of fragrance. I'm loving the ride ;-)

I did Back in high school and college, my signature scent was Safari by Ralph Lauren. I had other fragrances, but this was my "go-to" and the one that most associated me with.

Now, my signature is variance I seldom wear the same scent twice in a week, unless I pick-up something new that I'm getting acquainted with.
I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.

No, I don't. Signature doesn't mean "favorite." It means something one does or wears so often others can identify him or her by it. Jeans & a turtleneck. That was Steve Jobs' signature look. Zuckerberg's signature look was jeans and a hoodie, though I'm not sure if it still is. Tom Ford's signature look is black tie. Many bands have a signature sound. In fact, many bands end up losing their fans when they deviate away from their signature sound. Many artists have a signature style. Everybody knows what Jackson Pollock's was, right? For the most part, Bansky's work has a signature style.

I don't have a signature scent because I enjoy variety too much. I smell different every day.

But if I had to limit myself to a signature scent, without a doubt, I'd pick Royal Oud.

    LOL!

I have signature phases. It's kind of like the Bleu moon strikes and I wear Bleu de Chanel for a few weeks. Then I snap out of it and start wearing a variety of things again.

The first time Bleu became my temporary signature phase, it was like a drug. My sampling program was suspended without notice. Bedtime scent got replaced with Bleu. Then everything else. I waited for it to get better, but it didn't. I became obsessed. Nothing else smelled as good. It was like some kind of fatal attraction to a smell. The bottle just started going down. Mmmmmm. BUY MORE. It went on for so long, I thought I might never use anything else again.

Thankfully, I recovered. It's like I got a hankering for something else, and that was it. Over. GONE. I get occasional urges for Bleu - but typically just for a few days or a week, and separated by months.

Still love Bleu, but it's almost a normal fragrance to me now.
