Default Just a good bar of soap

    Hi everyone

I've been recently turning off from the bath gel and loofah combination and reaching for a nice bar of soap. Does anyone have good recommendations?

I've been using the Vitamin E Bar by Baxter of California and have also heard good things about the Kiehl's soap bar.

    Help a brother out.

For me, shower gel and loofa is unambiguously the best way to keep my neck clean. But I find it pretty useless for getting rid of suntan lotion, where cheap soaps seem to be better than more expensive moisturising soaps like Dove.

I don't know why, but I really like my Aramis soap bars - just for the smell while I'm washing.
    Regards,

I like the Diptyque ones, but they are quite expensive.

I've been getting mine the past few years from Ravenscourt Apothecary on etsy. She makes great stuff. Favorite are Russian Valdai Clay and Gunpowder Green Tea.

I really want to try the soap Bluebeards Revenge do. If it smells half as good as their other products it'll be wonderful.

Thanks for all of your replies guys. Looks like I'll have to add a few more to my list. I do prefer unscented soaps though so I'll give the Olay and Dove ones a go.

As to the other nicer bars, being in Australia (a country that seems to be a few steps behind the world) I'll struggle to find them

No aroma chemicals and Sodium tallowate (made from fatty tissue of animals) in my soap please. My family uses Dr. Bronner`s soaps. Their pure castile Bar Soaps are made from organic vegetable oils and scented with real essential oils (they have scent free too). Their peppermint rocks! Made in the US since 1948.

I have also used Good Soap by Alaffia and Organic Triple Milled French Soaps from Whole Foods (I think both their own brands) ,also castile and very good.

Never knew Bronner's made bar soap, I'll check it out. I always keep a bottle of the Almond/Hemp liquid soap in my shower, for those extra dirty days. It's awesome stuff. I do like the Peppermint liquid soap too, but full strength, it's a little...rough on the nether regions, and eye lids. I have a mini bottle that stays with my backpacking gear. I use it to wash myself, my clothes, and my dishes when in the backcountry.

haha, yes, it is! When using the liquid soap, we sometimes "cut" it with the unscented one.

I prefer the bar soap in the shower, but the liquid for everything else, hands, counter tops/surfaces, fruit/veggies, dishes, etc...

Isn't Aesop an Australian brand? I like some of their stuff, and I think they do have a soap. However, their products do tend to be heavily, if usually nicely, perfumed.

I used Molton Brown's black pepper soap last year and it did a great job of cleaning up my skin (it's an exfoliating bar - I think with cracked peppercorns?) and smells like little more than soap. It did, however, leave my skin very dry, that's why I'm not using it now.
Always happy to trade most samples I have for anything on my test list.

I've been using Mistral Black Amber and Mistral Sandalwood. These make my bathroom smell great and do leave a great scent on me for a long while.

Cellar Door Bath Supply has some pretty cool original bar soaps, and they're 100% vegan. I've been hooked on their Tobacco Oakmoss bar soap, smells fantastic.

I used to be able to get the Dove Men soap bars dirt cheap here in the UK but the stopped producing them for the UK market which was a shame. Can still get them online and I rate them quite highly.
For good, anatomic reasons, scent fosters memory more readily than any other sense.

I have said this before, so apologies. I get my soaps here in Cypus. They make a lot of OLIVE OIL soaps. I buy the Sandalwood fragrance.

If i shop around I pick up bars that are old, been on the shelves for years. The older they are then the more cured they are and the more lather they produce.

I have been using Olive Oil soap for about 30 years.

They are available on line in most locations.

I've been using One With Nature's fragrance free Mineral Salt Soap with Argan Oil and Shea Butter and really like it. I had a gift card to Whole Foods and picked it up there. I've been using it for 2 weeks and it's still going strong. I think I'll get a month out of it which is a while for a bar soap. I guess this makes the $5 price tag easier to swallow

I used to have issues with razor bumps (I still do but to a bare minimum), I was recommended Black soup so I been using the Black & White brand for years (face wash and pubic area only) I also started to use Cocoa Butter soap. Black & White soap is really good!

The Grandpa Soap Co Pine Tar Wonder Soap is excellent, but it has a hefty scent that will add some pine but more smoky campfire to whatever else you're wearing. I love that because my favorite colognes are "rustic" and/or earthy (e.g., masculine Santa Maria Novellas and D.S. & Durga/Hylnds).
